Anyway, we're planning a new kitchen. We're on the lower north shore in Sydney. So far, we've had three quotes:
- Sydney Kitchens
- Nouvelle
- Kitchen Connection
Each came up with totally different designs. By far, we prefer Sydney Kitchen's design. The problem is price. Sydney Kitchens have given us a (very) rough estimate hand written on paper. Looking at spending at least 25k, and I can see that creeping up. Nouvelle, for their design, was up around 30k. Kitchen Connection was about half that. But then, those guys aren't on the top of my list - the pressure to sign on the spot was amazing. Like I believe the special is only available today....
Anyway, so we have a design. But we think that Sydney Kitchens (and Nouvelle) are a bit too high end - want to charge at the top rate. It's a small boxy kitchen, so we're failing a little to understand why it is so expensive, even with granite benchtops.
Should we see some other kitchen places who can take the design we like and get them to give us a price? Or is it feasible to talk directly to a cabinet maker? Any recommendations on a kitchen company or cabinet maker in Sydney?
I work from home, so can project manage somewhat if that would save money (I just finished renovating our bathroom, so it's not really out of my depth).
