Reading in another forum where the wiring standards require an isolation switch to be included in the wiring for electrical cook tops and ovens. And that this isolation switch be easily gettable and operated (and be marked "Cooktop" or "Oven") should some sort of emergency occur. Now I have been looking at modern kitchens for some time now and I have never noticed or seen such isolation switches. Could any Sparky reading this care to comment please. Or anyone with a new kitchen - has such a switch been installed and has it been pointed out to you as to what it is for? And if it is there is it easily got at?
I shall be upgrading my kitchen in a few months with new cook top and oven and I must admit I have not planned for such a switch to be exposed and easily gettable in my design.
thanks
