Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Aug 28, 2009 11:21 pm I saw in a thread recently a kitchen installer said "I haven't put in stainless steel coloured kickboards for ages". I don't know whether it was a tongue-in-cheek comment or not! But what is the latest trend in kickboards, especially in kitchens with light cupboards? Kylie Re: What colour kickboards? 4Aug 29, 2009 7:47 am I personally think the stainless kicks has had it’s day. UNLESS, you have a kitchen like Sue’s, with lots of stainless so it all complements itself. It’s the area that gets the most thrashing around cupboards, most of the time I do mine black, depending on the colours used. I would love to go a dark grey or black but I don't want a kitchen that looks modern, all except for the kickboards! I also don't want a kitchen that screams - I was very trendy when my owners built me in exactly 2009! Perhaps the waterfall island edges will do that anyway... LOL I'm guessing that since I haven't noticed the kicks in any of the thousands of kitchen pictures I've looked at so far , it probably doesn't matter too much. Kylie Re: What colour kickboards? 7Aug 29, 2009 9:56 pm We are doing an all-white kitchen but went with Laminex Zincworks (silvery grey) for the kickboards for the above mentioned reasons. If they are white they will much more prone to marks and also to give the lower cupboards contrast. I am even thinking about having them replaced. Does anyone know how much it would cost to replace the kickboards? Our new kitchen has black kickboards. However we had to match it to our existing slate floor. Another reason we picked black is that we have 3 kick drawers (drawers installed behind the kickboards) which open with a tap of the foot. A light colour would get grubby very quickly. It really is personal taste. Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 3622 Hi - thanks for your reply. Yes I think 'Ill go for whitish with very speckly bits rather than pure white something like this.
