Its not really the centre sink tap, its sorta on the side like a mini hot/cold water dispenser. I guess they are good for offices etc but u should still be able to get one for your own kitchen but not sure where Re: Boiling Water on tap 4Aug 28, 2009 12:20 am LJCosta Hiya! Being a tea junkie this made me very excited but I havn't seen anything like this around in plumbing stores. Does anyone have any ideas of where I can get this magical tap from??? ta L Hi I have heard of these taps and know exactly where to get them from. It is called a Zip Hydrotap, instant boiling and chilled filtered water at the touch of a tap. You can get more information from Zip Heaters (Aust) Pty Ltd, 67 Allingham Street, Condell Park, NSW or phone 1800 638 633 or email sales@zipheaters.com or web site http://www.ziphydrotap.com This is the head office so they will be able to tell you where your local distributor is. Re: Boiling Water on tap 5Aug 28, 2009 6:20 am Quote: I do not know if that claim is true but in Australia there is hot water plumbing regulations that water must come out from the tap no more than 57C. I think you will find the Zip tap will pass because the hot water has a safety system which requires you to press 2 buttons at once to work. And roughly, they are $3000. I beleive there are just hot water taps only, Insinkerator is one brand that comes to mind, which are more like $800 or so. Possumchops Now the proud owner of 3.7acres of Serenity. I was gonna get a coffee machine however i though this would be more usefull for th emodern kitchen. then start from about 1200 for boiling only. Up to 3000 for hot and cilled water. I settled in between for boiling and ambient, figured with the money save i will buy a fridge and but the ambient water in there to get cold. Re: Boiling Water on tap 8Sep 08, 2009 12:25 am I was also very interested in installing one of these when we renovate. I did a lot of research as i couldnt beleive how expensive the zip hydrotaps were... I found many bad reports online regarding the requirement of expensive ongoing servicing, expensive parts and serious reliability issues. As a result i decided against it. There was also an aussie version called a boiling billy which had better reports and was cheaper: http://www.boiling-billy.com/products/index.html but by then i was happy to go for a good looking kettle Re: Boiling Water on tap 10Oct 09, 2009 2:49 pm I am in the process of having my kitchen fitted and one of my toys is the zip tap I will let you know how it works hopefully over the weekend. Re: Boiling Water on tap 11Oct 09, 2009 2:56 pm We have one at work - and I love it! We did think of getting one in the house, but couldn't really justify the expense. They are great for offices, but I think in a house it would be interesting to work out the running cost as you are basically keeping a store of water boiling and chilled at all times in the unit below the sink. I love being able to have instant chilled water though. Hubby doesn't want a plumbed in fridge. Also our new house's hot water system will necessarily be a long way from the kitchen so we will have to wait a while for the 'hot' water to get to the kitchen sink. The builder suggested we boil the jug when we want to wash up! However hubby is concerned about the outlay for a zip or billi. The billi price I found was a little cheaper than zip but still over the $2000 mark for hot and cold. I wonder how much we would save on the cost of a fridge without a water reservoir and on not boiling the jug all the time? They claim to be energy efficient. Nat. Re: Boiling Water on tap 13Oct 15, 2010 8:59 pm We have the zip hydrotap in our kitchen and couldn't imagine being without it now... no waiting for the jug to boil, and so quick and easy for chilled water as we have an integrated fridge/freeze that is not plumbed. Not sure about the running costs as we have only been in our place a few months, but benefits of daily usage outweigh the costs for me... BUT I do have to say the underbench unit does take up a lot of space... http://i998.photobucket.com/albums/af109/mymoogles/DSC01359.jpg Building on the Sunshine Coast - Land settled 22nd July 2009 Building contract finally signed (after much deliberation on our part) 11th November 2009 Building commences 25th January 2010 - small local builder End of June - almost completed fit out 26th July - MOVE IN DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just want to make sure we have enough cabinet space below. Thanks! Can a plumber put a tap on a rain water tank which is full? Tank is similar to one in photo. Cheers. 0 1668 that will depend on the kitchen bench depth. you'll have to specify it so it allows for both the tap and the sink 1 7392 7 5139 |
