I have been trying to decide whether to put double cupboards under our island bench or not - do I really need ANOTHER full set of cupboards? Do I want to lose that leg space? DO I want to have such a wide island bench?
And then I just saw this idea in a few display homes today:

One cupboard on each end - so there is still enough room for kids legs while sitting on stools, and a little extra cupboard space.
Does anyone have these in their kitchen? What do you think? They wouldn't be very deep cupboards, probably only 300-400mm max, depending on how much we extend island by, but would be big enough for those extra items that dont fit in other cupboards, like vases, etc.
The island bench on my plans at the moment is 750depth, 500 of that drawers & cupboards and leftover 250mm in overhang so would consider extending overhang out by maybe another 100mm - total of 850mm depth - is that too wide?
Also - it would mean less room for stools going across - the width of the island is currently 1800 so if you take off 600mm for 2x 300mm cupboards, you have 1200mm leftover - is that wide enough for 3 slim stools??? If you have stools and an island bench - how wide is your bench and how wide are your stools???
Just thinking out loud!
