Sorry, I am probably a bit late but we got our kitchen installed on Thursday so you can see the handles, we actually have two diffent sizes but it's only 3-4cm difference so you can hardly tell. (pics on my blog) We also sources our own handles for the kitchen and so happy we did so, they are stainless stell and such a nice clean look. Let me know if you need any other pics and will try to get some for you. Building a Wisdom Prosperity 23 - http://erwisdomprosperity.blogspot.com/ Re: HANDLES FOR KITCHEN & LAUNDRY, HELP PLEASE!!! 22Aug 30, 2009 8:44 am I'm one of those people who find it hard to picture what something will look like, so I use realestate websites to try and find houses for sale with new kitchens recently installed to look at photos. I regularly use realestate.com.au and myhome.com.au (which is good as it has 2 photos displayed, the 2nd sometimes is the kitchen). If you see one you like is an open house or display home in your area, why not drop in for a look. This is especially handy if the house is vacant because you can whip out the tape measure if the realestate man isn't looking over you shoulder. And of course everyone's photos on here are terrific too Re: HANDLES FOR KITCHEN & LAUNDRY, HELP PLEASE!!! 23Aug 30, 2009 10:37 am MickB Thank you so much SuH and House-to-be, your photos are great and really helped. I'm pretty sure I will go with the handles in proportion to the drawer, like yours House-to-be. What size are your actual handles, e.g are they 8mm x 12mm or 12mm x 12mm? Your kitchen colours look similar to mine, what have you chosen? What colour splashback have you got? What might you think you will change it to? Thanks so much. You are welcome Our handles are 14mm. The first two style of handles I bought were 9mm and 10mm and I thought they were too thin for the large pot drawers. The actual lengths from end to end are 230mm (224mm), 295mm (288mm), 360mm (352mm) and 550mm (544mm). The lengths in brackets are from center of screw to center of screw). I have between 4cm-5cm between the end of the handle and the end of the cupboard/drawer. I got ours from Handle House up in Maroochydore, they are pretty cheap too Ours are C79 - Mainz. The ones I had bought previously were C70 - Style and C77 - Quad. The people there were so nice letting me buy and return etc etc http://www.handlehouse.com.au/cabinet.asp?offset=70 Our kitchen colours are Polar White Laminex with Quantum Quartz Ice, splashback was supposed to be Oyster Linen but we have Linseed which was what we selected first but then changed to the O.L. My DH likes the darker Linseed, he doesn't want a light splashback. I don't know what I want But it's the only thing in the house that slightly bothers me so I haven't done too bad there. I've had alot of people say that I should have gone off white cabinetry to match my wall colour but we wanted white so down the track we can paint the family/kitchen area any colour and the kitchen would be okay. White is always a classic so a good choice. Do u have the option of having your splashback replaced free of charge? My husband and i use the old toss the coin method to make all the important decisions when we are 50 50 eitherway. Sometimes its the only way an actual decision gets made, mainly due to my indecisiveness. Re: HANDLES FOR KITCHEN & LAUNDRY, HELP PLEASE!!! 25Aug 30, 2009 3:39 pm Thanks Mango. We do have the option of having the splashback changed at no charge as it was their mistake. They've offered to do it in O.L or white. I don't want white as the kitchen is white and my DH is quite certain he wants a darker colour. We've been in for 8 months now and to be honest I don't really notice the s/back as much, I prefer to look out the window to the pool I've just ordered new couches for the family room which is opposite so I'll wait and see how it all changes once they arrive. I do love white for kitchens though, they don't date as quick. Happy at Home Re: HANDLES FOR KITCHEN & LAUNDRY, HELP PLEASE!!! 27Aug 30, 2009 9:08 pm Thanks House-to be for your handles information it was very helpful.Your kitchen is really lovely. I love the splashback, is it a grey colour? Is QQ Ice like caesarstone nougat (white with specks in it), I am not very familiar with QQ. Another question for everyone, what length would you suggest for handles on floor to ceiling pantry doors? I am thinking of putting them on vertically. Thanks again for all the help. from Mick B's wife. Re: HANDLES FOR KITCHEN & LAUNDRY, HELP PLEASE!!! 28Aug 30, 2009 10:48 pm Mango Hmm maybe they could give you some cash back for their mistake? Cheaper than fixing it and you could put it towards your pool landscaping. They've actually been really good about it all. I can't complain. Money is always nice though! I did get a check in the mail for the kitchen handles so that was good MickB Thanks House-to be for your handles information it was very helpful.Your kitchen is really lovely. Thank you No it's not grey, well maybe a greeny grey.....it does look good with the Ice as it has specks of the colour in it, Linseed is a Dulux colour. I think QQ Ice might be like Ice Snow in Caesarstone but I'm not 100% on that. I'm not much help in regards to your pantry! 300mm maybe? Are there any cupboards/drawers next to it? Happy at Home Re: HANDLES FOR KITCHEN & LAUNDRY, HELP PLEASE!!! 29Aug 30, 2009 10:59 pm No help at all here... but our door/cupboard handles are gumnuts True story But they do go with the Jarrah doors and bench top, sills and architraves Milled from 1 log on the property Onc-Artisan Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: HANDLES FOR KITCHEN & LAUNDRY, HELP PLEASE!!! 30Aug 30, 2009 11:19 pm Hi there, I'd go for 300mm-360mm, placed vertical. Quantum Quartz Ice is very similar to CaesarStone's Ice Snow - the base colour is the same shade. The only difference I could see between QQ Ice and CS Ice Snow were the specks. I only have a fridge next to the floor to ceiling pantry which goes along one wall. Above the fridge, I have a cupboard about 490mm high so was thinking about 200mm vertical handles on those. Wow Abstar, your kitchen looks fantastic, it's nice to see what nougat caesarstone will look like in a bigger piece!! What colour white did you go for in your cabinetry? Are you able to tell me what length your handles are on your overhead cupboards and on your big drawers? What size are the actual handles e.g 12mm x 12mm or 8mm x 12mm? I'm going to have to make a decision in the next day or so, MickB just rang and said the kitchen and laundry cabinets will be delivered tomorrow and panels and doors possibly on Wednesday so the kitchen guy will not start until he has the handles!!!!!! I must say he has been very patient! Oh, just another question what about taps? Thinking about a nice Franke goose neck tap and possibly a soap dispenser!! Very posh!! Thanks again, Mick B's wife! Re: HANDLES FOR KITCHEN & LAUNDRY, HELP PLEASE!!! 33Aug 31, 2009 10:54 am Very nice kitchen Abstar, love your Island! We have small flecks in the QQ Ice and some sparkly bits too, I really like it. It was probably the first thing I picked for the kitchen. I was able to see a large slab of it when we chose our tiles. Was also thinking of New Diamond White but preferred the Ice once I saw the slabs. 300mm sounds good for your pantry and the 200mm above does too. The goose neck tap and soap dispenser sound lovely! I think people forget about the soap. I've seen lots of photos of lovely kitchens with the soap in the container it came home in from the shop. I got a nice s/s one from the Reject shop for $5.00 So in a few days will we get to see some pics? Happy at Home Re: HANDLES FOR KITCHEN & LAUNDRY, HELP PLEASE!!! 34Aug 31, 2009 11:08 am Well House-to-be, if I get my bum into gear and sort out these handles!! I was thinking of putting in the soap dispenser in the sink of the laundry as hubby's work is quite dirty and that might save a bit of mess getting all over bench when he washes up when he gets home!! It might all be in by the end of the week or start of next week but will still take about 2 weeks for kitchen benchtops to go in. Laundry benchtop will go in straight away as we are having Laminex pure mineralstone diamond gloss. It's the closest I could find to caesarstone and I wanted them to match for some reason!! till next time, Mick B's wife! Re: HANDLES FOR KITCHEN & LAUNDRY, HELP PLEASE!!! 35Aug 31, 2009 11:41 am You'll laugh when I tell you this, we've been in our home for 8 months now and our handles only went on last week. I had trouble accepting the bar handles from our builder and asked them a day or two before our kitchen was due to be installed not to put on the handles. I've had the new ones here for a few months but hadn't gotten around to finding someone to do the job. I wouldn't let my DH touch them (and he didn't want to!) as they had to be straight and aligned Another forum member's husband came and did it for me, he also put the blum soft/self closing things onto my cupboards and some stoppers on my drawers. I love those little things! I'm pretty sure from memory that Donuts has Pure M'stone Gloss in her Pantry. She also has a white kitchen, Nova Aurora c/stone bench and a great Island like Abstar. You'll find some pics in her thread - house of donuts. I have soap in the kitchen and in the laundry. I'm forever washing my hands in the kitchen! The Nougat isn't that much different from Ice, you have bigger flecks. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This splashback is gorgeous, what colour is it? They are the exact handles I had chosen the second time, after I chose the first ones I chose which I didn't end up getting either but I stuck with the Nougat all the way. Nougat has no brown flecks in it, I thought I saw a couple in that photo but it could just be my monitor. Re: HANDLES FOR KITCHEN & LAUNDRY, HELP PLEASE!!! 37Aug 31, 2009 1:27 pm Abstar & SuH, These handles look a bit thicker than the ones I have chosen. Are you able to tell me the actual size of the handles? Are they square all around? 12mm, 14mm, 15mm? The ones I am looking at are 8mm x12mm , this gives 22mm from the back of the handle to the drawer(the space where your fingers fit). The square ones that I am looking at are 12mm x 12mm but only have 18mm finger room, if that makes sense? Does it make much of a difference!! I am crazy now, aren't I!!!???
