Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Aug 19, 2009 3:34 pm We're thinking of raising our bench height by about 2inches in the home we're about to build through Porter Davis. The only problem is what happens to the freestanding over/cooktop? Do they raise that area too? Has anyone raised the kitchen heights? What do we do about the cooktop? Would it look silly sitting on a platform? Hmmm what to do....... Life is; then you tell yourself a story. Re: Increasing Bench Heights - Cooktop problem 2Aug 19, 2009 4:16 pm Just found some info from Technika that the bases of their cooktops are adjustable. Still not sure if that increasing the height on the cooktop by 2 inches will look funny. We might have to give up on the increased bench height idea We might consider changing to Delonghi or some other brand as heard a lot of negative reviews of technika. I then found out the hard way that the Smeg freestanding oven only went up to 870mm. I emailed Smeg to see if there was an optional taller leg and never heard back. I ended up packing the feet up and putting in solid kickboards across the bottom Re: Increasing Bench Heights - Cooktop problem 6Aug 20, 2009 4:37 pm We got the delonghi 900 upright it has adustable hieght 900 -925. Just check there web site it has all the specs for there appliances. We don't have a free standing cooker but what we've done (and will do) with our dishwasher is to put a platform under to raise it up and put the kicker across the front. Looks fine...just like a bought one It cost us the price of some timber for the current house as we did it ourselves. The new house they charge 180 to do a similar thing for the dishwasher. The SC mentioned they've done similar stuff for free standing stoves when i asked about the dishwasher. Do you have a dishwasher and do the same? This whole issue is becomming more trouble than I imagined. Dishwashers are generally intergrated in that the kickboard covers the bottom anyway, I have 4 offcuts of 90x35 F27 hardwood under the feet to get the height up. I'm not that bothered by the covered in bottom of the cooker, its one less thing to clean under Building Standards; Getting It Right! We bought a house in 2015 advertised as a 7/2/2, 4br up, 3br down (7br), and to date, it’s a great house. However, we’ve just had it valued and it’s come in as a… 0 11960 My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven.
