Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Aug 19, 2009 10:40 am Hi, Owner building - doing the kitchen soon.. I want a built in electric oven, but with a seperate drawer compartment as the grill... not another oven or a grill within in the oven... a drawer that pulls out as a grill. I have one in my current cooker, but I cannot find a manufacturer that makes a nice quality one now... any suggestions....?? Re: want a drawer grill in built in cooker 2Aug 19, 2009 11:27 am Hi Chatterbox...I used to have an oven with a separate grill and found them very scarce when we went to replace our oven. I can't even remember what I did see now. I had liked the separate grill too, and wanted to go that way again but eventually decided to go with the grill inside the oven and I haven't found it a problem - not that we use it a great deal. Besides...with the new oven being shorter it gave me space above my oven for the microwave, instead of on my bench Re: want a drawer grill in built in cooker 3Aug 19, 2009 11:35 am to do list and I both had a discussion about this last year. having come from an old full freestanding stove i didn't want a built in grill within my oven. I ended up getting a westinghouse under bench oven with a separate grill. i think the only alternative was a very expensive brand. Haven't used the grill yet so i can't tell you what it is like.. Re: want a drawer grill in built in cooker 5Aug 19, 2009 2:57 pm This is the same type of oven I wanted, they are pretty scarce. We are putting the Electrolux E-line oven with seperate grill in our house. Westinghouse and Chef both do similar models at a cheaper price range. A few companies have what they call double ovens that are multifunction- so you can do several types of cooking in the two ovens including grilling and one oven is usually smaller than the other. St George make a really nice one of these. Other brands to maybe take a look at are Teka or Whirlpool. Lisa- Finally in our house!!! Re: want a drawer grill in built in cooker 6Aug 20, 2009 8:06 pm I went through this as well. The salesman told me that MOST don't have a separate griller. He also said that the ones that do have such a shallow griller that you could probably grill al fish in it but you couldn't brown the of a Cauliflower bake in a dish etc. because the dish won't fit under it. Maybe someone could tell if this is true. (although it's too late for me now I suspect).
