Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: ideas for kitchen 2Jun 04, 2007 8:29 am I really like kitchens where the units are off the ground (although the centre cooking area has to be the world's most stupid idea if you have kids):

Not only are they hard to reach and impractical for storing any moderately-often used gear, but they also just trap dust and filth on top. In every house I've lived in the top of the high kitchens cupboards always gets disgustingly dirty. So I think this is rather good as there's no 'dust trap' on top: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I like the storage idea here: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This final one comes so close ! Nice big cupboards, clean lines etc. If the back units were build into the wall (as it almost seems at first glance) then it'd be perfect to me. I think even a false wall panel to the ceiling would be preferable to the top 'ledge' above the cupboard. Re: ideas for kitchen 3Jun 04, 2007 8:44 am The four pics above show four basic combinations using white as the base:
- White with a soft colour (greyt) - White with a bold colour (yellow) - White with a light wood finish - White with a dark wood finish Personally I like either the light wood or light grey. To me the greater the contrast the bolder the statement. Re: ideas for kitchen 4Jun 04, 2007 9:04 am I’ve not long ago finished an ALL white kitchen…..
White cupboards…..white Ceasar Stone bench tops, with a little speck through it, and glass splash backs. Chrome handles, chrome legs, a few wall cupboards with the glass inserts and stainless trim on the doors……it looked fantastic! No photos as I am very slack in that department….always forget to go back and take them! Sorry! This was a huge kitchen, and made an impact all on its own. Can’t wait to go back and see how she has complemented it with kitchen appliances and nick knacks. You can do “white” with no other colours mixing with it, but make sure the rest of the room complements this all white statement. Shame on you Re: ideas for kitchen 6Jun 04, 2007 9:22 am Hahahahah…..but just think…I’m encouraging you all to visualize better! Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: ideas for kitchen 7Jun 04, 2007 2:47 pm I'm an all white girl as well, I went for high gloss kitchen cupboards all through my kitchen, costs a bomb but I think the final result will be fantastic. I matched it up with snow caeser bench top, white glass splash backs, stainless steel kickboards and for the pantry doors i had it frosted.
All my floor cupboards must be to the ground. Although I love the look where fittings are not attached to the ground, its just all about the mess for me. For cupboards on top I had a bulk head built and cupboards lowered. Re: ideas for kitchen 11Jun 06, 2007 10:48 am I don't know about "out and down" but how about these?

Thanks for that. Re: ideas for kitchen 13Jun 06, 2007 11:03 am renomart Hafele makes a component for wall cupboards that swings objects down towards you. Sorry, I can't remember the name of it. Doh! I have the Hafele catalog here and to my surprise I didn't find them in there. Re: ideas for kitchen 14Jun 06, 2007 11:23 am Hafele make a Swingbox

Download the Parbury Product Catalogue (Section 5) and go to page 8. It is called the Easy Down Storage Unit http://www.parbuild.com.au/downloads/im ... t_sec5.zip Re: ideas for kitchen 16Jun 06, 2007 11:43 am great!
thats almost exactly what I'm looking for! :p the pull out part is right but the door is wrong. what I'm looking for is a system where the door is attached to the front of the basket and you use the front handle of the door to pull down. the problem I see with the design linked here is that if you're short then its going to be really tough to reach up and close the door. I know I've seen it before, just can't remember where I would say both styles you have pictured are steel. The lower chord of the first pic would be a massive lump if made using timber considering the size of the rafters.
