Hi,
I am going to be building a new extension on my house for open plan kitchen/dining so I need to work out the kitchen I want so I can plan the structural elements with the draftsman. I am torn between two brands of oven/cooktops and would appreciate input since they both seem great.
First option is an Ilve Q-series freestanding electric double oven (one large + 1 small side by side) with around 5 burners on top all in stainless. The other option is a wall double oven by Neff and Neff's 5 burner gas cooktop which is on a black ceramic glass surface.
The Ilve combined unit may be cheaper as I can bargain for it while Neff is set price.
Capacity is similar in both ovens. The Neff appears to have more functions, perhaps better cleaning, and is at wall height. There is a telescopic shelf which can be moved to any shelf inside the oven and it has great trays. The Ilve would put the cooking zone together (no wall oven unit), the second little oven is tall with rotisserie which we would use a lot for a single chook.
I'm led to believe Neff is technically better oven wise.
In reverse the Ilve cooktop is apparently better as the material on the hobs and trivets in much better (cast iron and brass) and they seem flatter too. It also can come with the long fish griddle burner which would be useful also for making gravy in my long roasting dish. On the other hand I wonder about how easy to clean the glass cooktop would be on the Neff, seems nice. No fish burner though and not as good quality parts.
So do I go for the better Neff oven and buy the Neff burners 4 year warranty (can't really afford Neff oven and Ilve burners but it is an option). Or do I go for the sleek look of the freestanding Ilve 2 year warranty with its benefits. Both options will lead to quite a different change in the kitchen layout so perhaps someone can advise on whether all in ones can reduce cabinet costs etc.
Thanks in advance,
Jo
