Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Aug 16, 2009 4:20 pm We only have a smallish fridge at the moment but i'm leaving enough space in my new kitchen for a larger 4 door fridge and am wondering what depth is normal for a fridge space. Our fridge cavity will be built in along a wall next to the pantry then benches with wall units on top. The fridge depth that is on our design is 640. The 4 door fridge i'm looking to buy (In another 5 years) has a depth of 735 plus the clearance at the back. Is this 15cm sticking out going to look strange? Should i increase the fridge cavity depth to maybe 700, and also increase the pantry depth next to it and have the benches set back a bit. I've seen plenty of pics where the fridge doesnt seem to stick out too much. Re: What depth should the fridge cavity be? 3Aug 16, 2009 6:30 pm Yeah we might just add the extra depth in. I was just concerned because the pantry is next to the fridge, that would also have to be increased and the benches are only 640 that it would look funny having the pantry and fridge stick out 6cm. I'll keep pondering but will have to give the kitchen guy a firm decision soon. Re: What depth should the fridge cavity be? 4Aug 16, 2009 8:24 pm Well we are truly stuffed because ours is 650. Bugger. Nothing to be done about it now though. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: What depth should the fridge cavity be? 5Aug 16, 2009 9:37 pm Mango Yeah we might just add the extra depth in. Its just hard and i think the kitchen guy is sick of my constant changes. The kitchen i've got right now has the pantry about 4cm infront of the cupboards next to it and the benchtop overhangs that so there is about 2cm from the end of the benchtop to the pantry and that seems to look ok. Hubby keeps telling me not to worry about the small details but i think its the small details that make up a well planned kitchen. Thanks for the input guys.
