That's $80 each by the way.....From memory they were saying to be wary of the cheaper brand, the name escapes me at the moment, they are around half the price but riddled with problems (anyway that was the sales pitch) They were considering only using them on certain drawers and cupboards (ie. those with the most use...cutlery, pantry, etc) but in the end went with all of them. By the way ladsos, do you have a samoyed? Waiting on my pup in the next two weeks...any advise if you have one?..... Re: self closing kitchen cupboards 4Aug 10, 2009 10:58 am Sorry to crash the thread but we have a samoyed... shes 3yrs now and she is a fantastic dog! Everyone one comments on how well behaved and friendly she is. Very smart aswell we didnt do puppy school with her because she knew it all herself and there wasnt much need, shes really playful also and loves EVERYONE... she can be a little naughty when bored though..she loves to dig when its been raining and steals stocks and eats them when she can!! Our vet said they are very smart dogs and can get bored when left by themselves alot which sometimes she does thats when she does a few naughty things but its not that often and its actually pretty funny because you can tell by the look on her face she has done something. They call them the smiling dogs and they really are..the only thing we wish we had done was get a friend for her sooner. Re: self closing kitchen cupboards 5Aug 10, 2009 11:27 am I love self closing kitchen cupboards and drawers that open by you just lightly touching them and was thinking about them at first but am now starting to think that they will blow my budget Re: self closing kitchen cupboards 6Aug 10, 2009 12:47 pm ^ Servodrive - very expensive, looking at a couple of thousand atleast for a small kitchen If you have blum hinges, you can get an attachment for soft-closing doors which isnt all that expensive in the scheme of things. And you can get soft-closing drawers which are significantly pricier than standard draw runners. Re: self closing kitchen cupboards 7Aug 10, 2009 2:56 pm I love the self/soft closing doors, no more banging cupboards. Sorry I am not sure of the price but well worth whatever it was. P.S. re: samoyed's, my daughter has two, she got a friend for the first one...TIP - get a damn good vacuum cleaner and a sticky hair removal roller for your clothes, you only have to look at a Samoyed and the hair flys right at your clothes, but gorgeous dogs Re: self closing kitchen cupboards 10Aug 10, 2009 10:25 pm Is that for soft closing drawers? Thats a pretty good price Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! Our Crazy Owner Builder Journey! Re: self closing kitchen cupboards 11Aug 10, 2009 10:58 pm Wow - I didn't realise that the soft closing was a bit more expensive. It is standard for our builder and I can't wait not to have slamming cupboard doors. I have seen the self close in a friend's kitchen - no handles on anything - her kitchen alone is worth a small fortune though!! JL Re: self closing kitchen cupboards 12Aug 10, 2009 11:11 pm Oh Suh i dont have a samoyed, but can tell its a naughty one huge lol What a gorgeous dog. We have a **** which today decided to chew up a brand new bath mat! I had to laugh as charlie has never chewed up anything and he is 12. But has been known to have the same coloured face as your samoyed. Caz Re: self closing kitchen cupboards 13Aug 10, 2009 11:13 pm We were quoted $600 to upgrade to self closing draws/cupboards in the kitchen. Our house thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=18335 Re: self closing kitchen cupboards 17Aug 13, 2009 10:49 pm As a cabinetmaker I would only ever use blum hardware. Cheaper is cheaper for a reason. Blum soft close drawers (Tandembox with Blumotion) are pricey, but nothing else comes close for reliability. Soft close doors should cost you no more than a few dollars each for the mechanisms, than only a fitting price. Blum hardware also has a lifetime warranty. hope this helps Re: self closing kitchen cupboards 18Aug 14, 2009 8:48 am Ladsos, our builder has quoted $90 for Blum hinges upgrade throughout out kitchen and $70 for each set of soft closing hinges. Will definitely go with Blum hinges and then possibly upgrade just the cutlery drawer. Still in the process of making final choices... Ibb1980, am I right in understanding that if one has the "basic" Blum hinges, one can buy clips/attachments for soft closing to clip on at a later date if desired? And that these are significantly cheaper than the Tandembox and Blumotion that you mentioned? Roz Land settlement = 23/09/09 YAY!!
