Re: Is it really this bad here ?! 22Jul 30, 2009 7:48 am Dragonfly I don't use a towel for seven days, I might if I could get it to dry properly in my bathroom. I have a cold bathroom and a towel gets stinky after two uses. The kids have warmer bathroom so they use one for maybe 5 days, unless it gets left on the floor and trampled/and or peed on..(two year old in toilet training mode..). I really don't want to hang my towel out on the line after every use just to get 7 days out of it. I justify extra washing by having an efficient machine and I don't have a dryer. And the towels sitting waiting to get washed get double use to clean up a spill on the floor or wipe clean the cat's litter box after washing it. That's essentially what happens here too. In Summer because we both cycle or jog so we would have a clean towel every day (used twice in the a.m and in the p.m). In winter we'd go 2, maybe 3, days with same towel - depends on our activity. Sometimes a clean one each day. No set rules. We also don't have a dryer but I get by washing the towels once every 2 weeks or so in one go and drying on the warmest room in the house (study) - only takes a day to dry. Our water usage is actually much less than the Victorian Governments 155 litre target as well so I feel OK about my clean towel addiction Re: Is it really this bad here ?! 23Jul 30, 2009 7:00 pm _kelly_ Our water usage is actually much less than the Victorian Governments 155 litre target as well so I feel OK about my clean towel addiction That's awesome! My kids grew up (first 5 years) no grass in back yard so only played in dirt and mud. They never wore jumpers and hardly ever wore shoes when playing at home. My son (now 12) has had to take antibiotics only twice in his life. We use enjo - so just water cleans our house. Sons exzema vanished when stopped using all those nasty chemicals too. 2011 Home Sweet Home Handover 03 September 2010 PCI 27August 2010 Plumber 20August 2010 Electrician 19August 2010 Painting 04 August 2010 Cabinets 13Jul2010 Lockup 23June Frame 20April slab 1Mar10 Re: Is it really this bad here ?! 25Aug 03, 2009 11:13 am if this worry's you, just think whats happening in your favorite restaurant Re: Is it really this bad here ?! 26Aug 03, 2009 11:21 am I remember a story on 60 minutes about superbugs. People were most at risk of getting them in hospitals because they do so much cleaning and disinfecting. One of the doctors even said that kids should be playing in the dirt more, all this overcleaning of them is actaully putting them at risk. You can't win really. Re: Is it really this bad here ?! 28Aug 03, 2009 1:00 pm When my sister was a crawler we used to call her the vacuum cleaner, she used to crawl under our stools when we were eating and eat all the bits of food we dropped. And we lived on a farm so it can't have been the cleanest of floors..we lived in gum boots that usually had dung of some description on them.
