Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jul 14, 2008 4:30 pm Hi guys,
Im in the market for a new fridge but a little confused as to what brands I should be looking into. Every saleman seems to have their own opinions, which only confuses me more! By budget is a little limited $0-$4000 I was thinking perhaps a Fisher & Paykel? Tell us what you have and do you recommend? Any brands I should stay away from? Re: Refrigerators - Tell us what you have! 2Jul 14, 2008 4:38 pm Pugsley By budget is a little limited $0-$4000 $4k sounds pretty decent for a fridge! I won't be able to provide much help - I have my eye on this $7000 beauty: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Lived with a regular freezer on top, fridge on bottom Fisher & Paykel for 5 yrs - absolutely no problems with it. After 4 years - we're in! Re: Refrigerators - Tell us what you have! 3Jul 14, 2008 4:50 pm I'm a Fisher and Paykel fan so I'm biased. But in a rental at the moment and the F&P doesn't fit so using a LG upside down and it's actually pretty good. Much better than I expected it would be. Nothing on the F&P though! Getting a new Fisher and Paykel for new house! I love the french door with freezer drawer underneath. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. http://www.fisherpaykel.com.au/refriger ... 959699C462 It cost $1200 from the good guys about 3-4 years ago. My only complaint is lack of freezer space - I like to do big cook-ups and freeze portions so I don't have to cook very often, but I struggle to fit them all in here. We intend to get a big separate freezer when in new house though. Otherwise, very happy with it, and I think it looks nice and sleek, even though not s/s. Re: Refrigerators - Tell us what you have! 5Jul 14, 2008 4:59 pm We are having two upside down 519 litre F&P's side by side - one with water / ice facilities, one without. Think that they retail around $2200 and $1800 - but we bought them when a business was closing it's doors.

Only problem with double doors is that the freezer section is never big enough - hence buying two fridges to sit side by side. Smaller wine fridge in the pantry - just a cheapy from Target - had them previously and they worked a treat. Re: Refrigerators - Tell us what you have! 6Jul 14, 2008 5:41 pm I think you all know I love Samsung.
We have a Miele fridge and freezer - nothing to write home about A F&P in the pantry we use as the grog fridge A Samsung in storage waiting for the new rumpus room to be built. Samsung wins hands down with me. Paula Re: Refrigerators - Tell us what you have! 7Jul 14, 2008 6:52 pm We have a Westinghouse side-by-side right now but that's due to be relegated to the garage in the new house in favour of a Fisher & Paykel 'pigeon pair' vertical fridge & separate matching freezer
http://www.fisherpaykel.com.au/refriger ... 82C80AF166 http://www.fisherpaykel.com.au/refriger ... 3C5830DC2C Used to have the older models of these and they were great. Big fridge, big freezer. Only problem is they need around 1400mm space in the kitchen. I honestly don't know why side-by-sides are so popular -- the freezer space is always inadequate. They certainly do need that much room. We currently have a standard fridge freezer and a smaller half sized upright freezer. We've calculated we needed 1400-1500 to fit both in our new kitchen and have left space to do so. Any spare room Hmm I guess I'll store something or other there. Perhaps a set of keyring hooks. We are thinking of something similar, but most probably the Westinghouse as I don't like the freezer drawers in the F&P...I can't see inside the top drawers ...or maybe the Electrolux if finances allow...although last time I looked they didn't make the largest size in stainless steel or the intergrated ones either. We are sort of getting around the problem of them taking up so much room by putting the freezer inside the pantry (so it takes up pantry space instead of bench space ). This means we don't even have to buy a matching pair I suppose. I totally agree about the lack of freezer space in the side by sides...definitely not big enough for our brood. We have a massive Jennair side by side fridge/freezer in storage (well, stored in the garage, technically!) with ice & water. We had to have the fridge space made higher to fit it in. It has glass front doors, and I amd absolutely DYING to get it in and USE it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
