Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 21, 2007 1:28 pm Hi,
I have been told by a kitchen manufacturer that the "Cesar Stone" Brand is much superior to "Quantum Quartz" or "Sile stone" and that the last 2 brands tend to crack easily where the "Cesar Stone" doesn't. Can anyone comment on that? Does anyone has any experience with any of these brands cracking? Re: Is there a difference between cesar stone brands? 3May 21, 2007 1:43 pm That what I suspect, they claim that the other brands are much cheaper than "Cesar stone" as well. I just don't know who to believe to anymore, I have received so many contrasting opions as to the various components of kitchens, it makes it really difficult to compare between quotes you get from different kitchen companies. Re: Is there a difference between cesar stone brands? 4May 21, 2007 1:55 pm We have 10 year old DuPont Corian benchtops in kitchen and bathroom vanity. Very happy with the surface. Yes it does get fine scratches in it, but they can be buffed out. They are easy care. We did develop a fine crack across the corner section a few years after installed. They came and did a repair, which was perfectly undertaken and invisible now. Colour is still fine and no apparent fading, even on Corian window-sill in kitchen.
You should research and get feed-back, but ultimately (like any buying decision) trust your instincts about the supplier/manufacturer. If they reckon their product is superior, ask for them to substantiate that, look at the terms of warranty, and the attitude of the supplier. Go with a supplier that has a good track-record of customer service. Ash. Re: Is there a difference between cesar stone brands? 6May 21, 2007 2:51 pm One comment I have heard about quantum quartz.....
I was browsing at a local granite wholesale place recently. I saw that they also carries Q/Q and asked a few questions about it to the office lady. She said she knew very little about it, as she was mostly in admin. She did say though, that she had heard of some Q/Q where the larger flakes of minerals had actually come out of the composite. An unsubstantiated comment, but it makes sense that if there's a larger flake in the surface, it could come loose under certain circumstances. My assumption is this may be a risk with any brand product with larger pieces of mineral in it. Those with finer mineral particles may be more stable. Ash. Re: Is there a difference between cesar stone brands? 7May 21, 2007 6:47 pm I used Quantum Quartz once. It was a black colour with a mirror fleck (Starlight?) My client had a problem with major pitting of the surface where some of the aggregate material fell out. Q/Q tried to repair it by filling the pits with some sort of epoxy. Eventually, they replaced the tops completely. Re: Is there a difference between cesar stone brands? 8May 21, 2007 7:08 pm Hi
All the brands you mention are specified by architects in projects that we supply and I have never heard a complaint about any... So it's just sales hype I think as an excuse for the higher price. Caesarstone is undoubtedly the most highly promoted product, and advertising is not cheap.
