Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jul 10, 2009 11:54 am So it looks like we might scale back our full-blown kitchen reno to just a kitchen makeover. Am a little disappointed, but it will still be fun updating the appliances and look! Does anyone have any experience with companies that do kitchen "makeovers"? You know, they overlay the existing benches with shiny new stuff and replace the doors and handles. I picked up a few brochures from the home show, so am curious to know how they turn out. Thanks in advance! Nic Re: Kitchen "makeover" 2Jul 10, 2009 1:03 pm Hi Nic, Granite transformations are a great alternative to replacing benchtops, they simply overlay the existing benches. Have a look at their website, we have currently be working on several renovations were our clients have decided to rejuvenate their existing kitchen rather then replacing it and have achieved great results. Good luck. Re: Kitchen "makeover" 3Jul 10, 2009 1:35 pm That's exactly the company i was curious about! Thinking of going to have a look at the showroom soon. Is there a ballpark of what it costs? Their brochure says it's a "fraction" of the cost of a new kitchen, but you know 7/8 is still a fraction Re: Kitchen "makeover" 4Jul 11, 2009 6:30 pm The in-laws just updated their kitchen recently by adding new Ikea doors, handles, mixer & sink as well as a new laminate bench (from somewhere else) . Looks really good. It only cost them about $2k all up as the doors & handles were DIY installation - depending on the size price varies but all theirs were ~$50 each IIRC. Re: Kitchen "makeover" 5Jul 11, 2009 7:07 pm We recently had a quote from Granite transformations to do our benchtops. It came in at >$3700. For interest i got a quote for full caesar stone replacements. $3300. Don't know what is going on here. I personally have a strong dislike of recon stone full-stop; but it irks me even more that they can charge so much for a 6mm veneer. We are renovating to sell, which is why we're looking at it in the first place as I know that the market loves it. No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 6635 2 4685 that will depend on the kitchen bench depth. you'll have to specify it so it allows for both the tap and the sink 1 7398 |
