Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jun 23, 2009 11:45 am Hi, We have just bought our very first house and want to renovate the kitchen, quickly, before we move in. I am trying to organise everything in advance so we can get it all done in quickly once the tenants move out in August. I will attach a copy of the plans and would love any advice. We have put in a blue dashed line where we would like to extend the kitchen to. I am honestly not sure where to start. I assume I have to get an engineer in to check if the wall can be moved, apply for council permission to move it & then get quotes from builders/carpenters on moving it? Then I have to order a kitchen, get a plumber & electrician to cut power & water so we can demolish existing kitchen before installation of new kitchen. The important part is that we are on a TIGHT budget so need to do as much of the labour as possible (I'm not afraid of a sledge hammer and I love putting together Ikea so I optimistically think that I can put together a flatpac kitchen). Oh and we are in Perth. Any ideas & advice from those of you with all the great experience would be appreciated. For some reason I can't upload pic of plans but will try again later) Re: My First Kitchen 3Jul 02, 2009 5:59 pm I have used Proform in the past. Worked out cheaper than Ikea depending on what you want. Design service and kitchen can be made to your measurements unlike Ikea where their sizes are all uniform. They can supply flat pack for you to DIY. I am querying this with them as I can only see the need for about 8 panels, including back panels on the breakfast bar. We are getting a builder to go out & have a look to see if the wall is load bearing then we can make our final decisions. 11 40696 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7257 Can anyone give me any onfo on New Homes WA? Good or bad, hopefully good just need to know if my choice was good or not? Thanks ❤️ 0 8933 |
