Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jun 16, 2009 12:24 pm I had a guy come over this morning to quote on a glass splashback for the kitchen. The options are endless!! I thought I'd have to make a decision on the spot, but thankfully he's left me with 2 boxes of samples to play around with. I would still love to go with some colour on the splashback but I think we'll end up going with something more neutral. On the plus size - because I want the section on the oven side of the kitchen to be all one piece we'll end up with an offcut that will be a perfect size to use as the splashback in the laundry!! Happy with that Re: Too many options!! 2Jun 16, 2009 10:02 pm I'm not sure if anyone's really interested... but I'll pop up some photos anyway Here's some of the colours we were 'trying out' haha Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ But in the end, I think we have decided to go for the 'Dusky Pink'. A colour that we had both initially dismissed, but we quite like it as it's nice and soft, not too dark and sets the other colours off nicely. Wall paint will be Smoke Pearl like in the rest of the house. You certainly have alot of samples esg!!! Final pick looks good - and the fact that you and DH agree - well if that ever happens in my household I'll throw a party! Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Too many options!! 4Jun 16, 2009 10:25 pm bel Yeh I'm interested!!! You certainly have alot of samples esg!!! Final pick looks good - and the fact that you and DH agree - well if that ever happens in my household I'll throw a party! Haha, that's only a select few samples!! We have 2 boxes of them! Maybe 60 odd different colours? So much choice, and they said there's more at the shop if we wanted to pop in and have a look, or if there was a colour on the chart that we didn't have a sample for, they'd make one up for us! We're pretty good at agreeing on choices. We both select colours we like, discount the ones that one of us really doesn't like (my DH kept selecting light blue and I kept saying NO!). And just work it back from there until we find something we both like. We both really like the green (first pic, on the far right) and were very tempted, but kept coming back to a decision we made when we started renovating - we didn't want to make a 'colour' statement with anything permanent. We wanted to be able to change the look/feel of the house easily via accessories such as flowers, rugs, cushions etc etc. Oh, and an added bonus - we realised after we'd decided on the pink that it would go nicely with the lights that we're hoping to get to go over the dining table (which is right next to the kitchen) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Too many options!! 5Jun 16, 2009 10:56 pm Re: Too many options!! 7Jun 17, 2009 8:59 pm LOL Dave, it's a bit rough hey!?!
That silver is L1306 Silver from the Lusture Glass range (according to the sticker on the back, their phone number is 1300 L GLASS). Oh, and because I still have all the samples here I'm looking at colours again and second guessing our choice!!! Isn't it always the way... Re: Too many options!! 8Jun 17, 2009 9:48 pm Hmmm.... ok so re-evaluating our choices has resulted in us changing our minds TWO more times!! DH Has come up with the suggestion that we create a feature wall in the lounge in the same colour as the splashback to bring the area's together (all open plan and about 15m between the kitchen wall and lounge feature wall). So with that in mind, we've opted to go something a bit darker and more neutral. Rather than making it a "feature" in the kitchen (with a hint of colour), it will now blend with the kitchen and be more of a standout feature in the lounge. This is what we've decided to go with.... Sure but whatever helps with getting through the ordeal of choosing from a million options! Thanks Re: Too many options!! 11Jun 18, 2009 12:10 pm I think a colour that has a tad of antique gold of bronze in it would be better...im not a fan of pink eeek Kitchens are like finger prints, no two are ever the same!! SmartPack did the kitchens for Channel 9's Home Made TV Show Re: Too many options!! 12Jun 18, 2009 3:25 pm Smartpack - see my later posts in this thread. - we've changed from the pink already LOL Re: Too many options!! 13Jun 21, 2009 8:49 pm May I ask, how much that cost - around what sort of cost per sqm is glass splashback fully installed? We are looking at that option right now ourselves. Re: Too many options!! 14Jun 22, 2009 9:21 am Hi Stonecutter Our kitchen will have approx 3.2sqm of splashback (including the area behind the overhead cabinets either side of the rangehood. Because that section requires a T piece and I don't want any joins in the glass, I have to also pay for the off cuts. Which I don't mind, because the off cut I think will be a perfect size for the splashback in the laundry!). Prices for fully installed (including cutouts for 4 power points) $1220 - for the std 6m safety glass $1560 - for the Ultra clear safety glass (when you look through the sample sideways you can't see the green tinge in the glass like normal, I guess it allows for brighter/truer colours? Not sure LOL) And if I opted to have the T piece done with 3 peices of glass, thus avoiding off cuts it would have brought the price down about $200 - but I'd rather have no joins I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
