Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 26, 2009 1:29 pm Hi all I have a small inner city townhouse (1975) kitchen reno in the planning & am looking at colour/finish options. I wanted to go with a bright white to open up the space with an uncluttered look. I like the modern & sleek look of square edge Polytec melamine Classic White sheen or Parbury Lustre Arctic White doors with matching 1mm edging, but have been scared by my cabinet maker saying scratches & finger prints will be much more noticeable than a matt. I don't have any children or pets & there is no direct sunlight in the kitchen. My benchtop will be Staron Tempest Meteor or Bright White & I'll add some colour in the splashback. I'd like to hear from anyone with experience in the above products or white sheen/gloss. Thanks pg Re: Any opinion on gloss or high sheen cupboard doors/draw front 2May 26, 2009 2:14 pm Hi pg_reno, My cupboards are all finished in Polytech Classic White (gloss), and they look great. As far as durability is concerned, I've not had a problem. Unless you're going to be preparing food on the face of your doors/draws you should be fine hehe Can't say I've ever used any of the Staron range; looking at their catalogue though I lurv Allspice Re: Any opinion on gloss or high sheen cupboard doors/draw front 4May 26, 2009 3:25 pm Hey pg_reno, Well the kitchen in my current home is only half installed, though I had the exact same doors/draws in my last house and I was there for three years; everything still looked new when we moved. With regards to melamine doors with a 1or2mm PVC edge strip, you do see a very faint black line between the laminate and the plastic. I’d recommend going and viewing these style of doors in a kitchen shop first to make sure you’re happy with the look. Personally, if your trying to stick to a budget I think they look fine – if money was no object I probably wouldn’t go with this type of door, but I certainly can’t complain with how they have stood up to everyday use and their overall appearance. Thanks for the suggestion. The space between shower and sinks was too tight. I agree about the toilet location. So I have tried two other options: The lower one is… 3 6138 these look like missing batts. Go up and take a look. But yeah moisure meter is a completely different tool 4 9456 |
