It troubles me that it is so hard to put down a heat diffuser for an 'off the stove' pan.
They are bloody hot, and melt most surfaces.
alternative:
Stone mixed with cement and sand, ground and polished
no added sealer, hard as the hobs of hell.
Go dark oxide and no stains will show.
Will cost about 400 L/M installed
Only thing to watch is, don't leave milk on the surface

What stone top is best suited now days.
They all have there own distinct property's and pro's and con's.
So really best option is to go check out some other forums and make your choice's from there.
I know there are forums out there because i have posted a fair few massive article's on stones and really right now i cant be bother re-typing it, sorry its just first thing this morning and not in the mood to go keyboard crazy.
