Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: Is your microwave integrated into the cabinet? 21May 31, 2009 2:45 pm Even though we will have masses of benchtop space I am hiding my microwave in my pantry - in this kitchen I don't want any appliances left out permanently on display. So we had the builder make sure that at least one of the shelves in the pantry would be deep enough to sit the microwave on it. Plus we added an exhaust fan to ensure no lingering smells in our pantry. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Is your microwave integrated into the cabinet? 22May 31, 2009 6:54 pm Ummmm Kyton, didn't think of the shelf being deep enough or the exhaust fan... good point! Re: Is your microwave integrated into the cabinet? 24May 31, 2009 10:19 pm Thanks Kyton, it might be a bit too late for exhaust fan, but let's hope I retain the info about the deep enough shelf! Building a Wisdom Prosperity 23 - http://erwisdomprosperity.blogspot.com/ Re: Is your microwave integrated into the cabinet? 25Jun 01, 2009 10:56 am ours is under the bench like picture 2. Should have a trim kit but ours can't be put on as the microwave over heats. It is currently full of rust due to the condensation and the cstone bench top above gets really hot during use. (ie when you cook something like beef strog) This is with the trim kit off! 11 months down the trach our builder is still coming up with a fix. I do have a replacement siting in the cupboard waiting. It has not been installed to manufactures instructions! We are looking at having to have a vent put in the rear of our island bench. Thanks, Vid Re: Is your microwave integrated into the cabinet? 27Sep 28, 2009 9:33 am We put our microwave in the space and the surround just clicked into place but the cabinet maker may have done something first sorry I cant remember I could take it off and have a look later if you like. I remember there was wood on the base and i think the microwave sat on that, Have a look at your installation guide it may show you some pictures there. Cant find my kitchen photos will have to download them again but check out taffys thread you will see the finished result there Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: Is your microwave integrated into the cabinet? 28Sep 28, 2009 8:13 pm I hate the thought of a microwave higher than chest level - too dangerous. We are getting one of those doors that slide down (looks like a mini roller garage door) that our toaster and kettle will be concealed in. It will also have a shelf for the microwave. That way we dont have to worry about it fitting perfectly as we will just close the door on it Re: Is your microwave integrated into the cabinet? 29Sep 28, 2009 9:03 pm Taffy We put our microwave in the space and the surround just clicked into place but the cabinet maker may have done something first sorry I cant remember I could take it off and have a look later if you like. Thanks for your response Taffy, your trim kit looks very similar to the look we are looking for. Re: Is your microwave integrated into the cabinet? 30Sep 29, 2009 8:30 am Thats ok vid Yes we bought the microwave and the matching trim kit too match. The blooming trim kit was almost as much as the microwave from memory Was worth it though as it looks great and no bits to wipe up around the microwave. It could have been worse the sharp combo was nearly twice as much! If you go onto the panasonic website it shows you all the microwaves and then states if they have trim kits too match. Its only some that have them usually the larger ones. Im sure other brands will have the same thing.
