Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 22, 2009 1:09 pm We are looking at putting one in, as once we raise/renovate our house the kitchen may not stay where it is, so would be good to be able to move it around. Also, our house is not 100% level so we can adjust it if we raise and re-level before moving things around. Any ideas / experience / feedback? Thanks team Re: Anyone had experience with an Ikea kitset kitchens? 2May 22, 2009 2:44 pm Hi there We put one in to cheaply replace our 1950's kitchen and I think we got in under $5k including tradies which was great! We got the faktum base cabinets and numerar laminated bench tops. It was a bit of a headache for hubby to install but our house is very wonky It still looks good, but the laminate bench is pretty average quality and scratches and fades easily. I would get the solid 'oiled' wood benchtop (more rustic looking and hides wear and tear better!) or their stone benchtops if I had my time again. Also we overloaded the corner cupboard lazy susan thing with heavy pots and it broke so I would advise using pot drawers for this purpose! I think the quality is ok but you have to be willing to DIY to make it worthwhile. ~*~Moved in on the 16th April 2011~*~ Re: Anyone had experience with an Ikea kitset kitchens? 3May 22, 2009 2:53 pm I put one in last year and am very happy with it. Get onto the website and download the online planner and have a play around with what works best for you. Ikea kitchens are not built for cavity walls so a little modification is required before it gets installed. Not a huge issue though and easy for any handy man/women to do themselves. As for the sloping kitchen, as I did, I would suggest you don't use all the feet, but instead screw in a piece of timber along the wall for the back of the cabinets to sit on. That way as long as the timber is level (and the appropriate height) you can just adjust the feet at the front to suit. Plenty of ways to skin a cat!
