Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 21, 2009 7:15 pm Hi everyone... Just after some feed back if I can. I'll post the orginal that I started with and the new one I got tonight. I'm after more bench and cupboard space and thought the last one would work, but I've had a couple of people point out to me that the way the WIP butts out is a bit weird. Thoughts, suggestions etc.... I'm starting to think its all to hard and just go back to the orginal plan lol 1st plan: latest plan: I'm so torn and so confused and I'm sure the poor guy drawing up the plans cringes when he sees my name now. This is the 3 rd go with the kitchen Deposits paid 29/4/09 Land settlement 12/08/09 Build contract signed 24/08/09 Colours done 28/09/09 BLOG-http://www.eljaysbuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Kitchen advice needed :( 2May 21, 2009 9:28 pm I like the first pantry better but the second fridge position better what about combining the two - the bench that ends up abutting the pantry is a good place for phones etc and you get more bench space with more useable pantry and keep fridge where it is in the second kitchen? Excuse crappy paint job - green bit is new bench with it curving around like original?? The bigger kitchen bench is great, you'll be able to put a couple of stools there without them being in the way. The doors as esg put them would work well too. Don't be disheartened.... you may feel like you're going in circles but making all these decisions is moving in the right direction. Keep smiling, buzz Re: Kitchen advice needed :( 5May 21, 2009 10:40 pm Good advice Buzz Lorree, if it makes you feel any better I'm up to about version 25 of my floor plans (i'm doing all the design work myself, it's for a complete renovation) and I had about 10+ versions of my kitchen before we decided exactly what we wanted. The time spent thrashing around ideas is time very well spent, as this kitchen will be there for a long time - so don't be affraid to keep making changes until it's a design that just makes you go "ahhh, that's it!!" Re: Kitchen advice needed :( 6May 21, 2009 11:01 pm Awww thanks guys, that makes me feel a bit better Great suggestions on the bench! I had done something similar to what you have put up esg, but I had angled it slightly to put a single door in there. However I do like the thought of double doors. Would you find it really annoying to have to big doors opening up into the kitchen space? Thanks again everyone I'm doing this on my own, so its great to be able to bounce this off people willing to listen. It looks like a big doorway. Doors opening into the kitchen are ok, but too big would be annoying as they need such a big space to swing through. Glad you're feeling better! buzz Re: Kitchen advice needed :( 8May 21, 2009 11:38 pm hey ekjay - i vote the other guys are right - in a kitchen space you may be better off with smaller doors than one big single for the pantry 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Kitchen advice needed :( 9May 23, 2009 1:10 am I have attached an image of a layout that would max the benchspace. Thanks Smartpack for taking the time to do that for me, its great! Do you think with it overlapping the bench though that it makes it a difficult work surface? It would be good for putting the phone there etc... I like it, but just worried about functionality? It can also make a good place for the kids (mother inlaw) if they want to be near you in the kitchen yet not intruding in your prep space! Kitchens are like finger prints, no two are ever the same!!
