Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 17, 2009 2:05 am Hi all Having a Kitchen dilemma at the moment. I’ve moved my kitchen into the meals area. It a big kitchen in comparison to the rest of the house. It sticks out a bit and intrudes into the new meals area. I’ve make a few options. What do you think, I know it won’t affect the working of the kitchen; it’s more the way it looks. I’m also trying to get a bit more space in the meals living areas. If I go with No: 2, I will have 1 more meter of living space, but will it look strange. I’m leaning towards No: 3 as it will define & close off the kitchen area. It will also make it level with the door to the Alfresco. Any ways what do you people think, would like your opinion on my kitchen or other aspect of my floor plan. Thanks kindly for your help. Re: Check out my Kitchen. 2May 17, 2009 6:40 am option 3 for me Willy - kitchen is flush against walls, no sticking out bits and no loss of alfresco space as you have in option 2 - house is large already, I dont see any need to extend the family room but making a very small alfresco would be a problem. Option 3 you do lose a bit of kitchen work bench but still have plenty there, cant see this being a problem. Re: Check out my Kitchen. 4May 17, 2009 11:05 am Helyn you mean Option 3 (the number is at the bottom of each one!) I like the first one or the third one. I don't mind the sticky out bit of the bench in option one. Option two is out for me, you don't want to reduce the alfresco IMO 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Re: Check out my Kitchen. 10May 17, 2009 1:42 pm good luck with it! another good one is the ikea home planner (you can see it in 3D) but you can only use their products. or my virtual home (but i find this very complicated to use and takes up way too much computer power. can you post your plans with furniture when you have done it? The living & meals will now be 7.8m long by 4.9m wide what do you think. Too small, too cramped? I’m working on the furniture placement now. I think every one should do this before we build. I just hope I can get all my junk in, and be comfortable. Have a look at the photo attached as it’s the same as my lay out. What do you think of the kitchen etc. Cheers KW…….. pano1 kitchen.jpg “It's just as unpleasant to get more than you bargain for as to get less” George Bernard Shaw. My only advice is to make sure you've got enough room to stand at your fridge with the doors open and have room between your backside and the cabinets behind you - if that makes sense? I think ours is going to be a tight squeeze. Not sure if you can really tell from these pictures... Once again I would have never thought of having the doors on each side. It great that we all take an interest in each others project. I may be stressing over the kitchen too much I’m sure after being it the house 1 week the kitchen will be the same no matter where it is. It’s just the bloody garage door that’s annoying me.
