Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 15, 2009 12:54 pm Hi, I'm located in Brisbane (northside), and am having troubles finding a kitchen place that will simply come out and measure up the required area and install a Laminate (their new Diamongloss range) benchtop for us. Most kitchen places don't just do benchtops only as apparently "its not worth their while" (in one kitchen places words). They would do just a benchtop if it were granite! - Yeah right, I'll install a benchtop worth more than the cost of the kitchen! Tried asking the Laminex Group to recommend someone and they gave me a place up at Clontarf and another at Warner. Both are a little too far to bother driving to. So, does anyone know any kitchen places that will do this for us? Also, can you put in an underbench sink on a laminate benchtop? Thanks. Re: Laminate kitchen benchtop question 2May 15, 2009 2:07 pm G'day, as I live south of Sydney I can't help you with the lamo top. I find it strange that kitchen companies won't do them for you, I mean, work is work. We do them all the time. Perhaps you can get a home handyman to measure up and install them and buy them ex - factory with the correct masons mitres and hardware to fit them. As for using an underslung sink, the answer to that is no. I'd be a bit sceptical about the laminex diamond gloss product. We don't even display the stuff anymore, too many problems laying it up, and some colours were not very durable. Have you looked at the Crea Style AR+ range distributed through Halfax Vogel? The manufacturer reckons you can steel wool the stuff without scratching it. (Not something I personally would do) Re: Laminate kitchen benchtop question 3May 15, 2009 10:56 pm hi michaels here is the link to the halifax website http://www.halifaxvogel.com.au/Product-Category.asp?CategoryID=19 also check out page 3 & 4 of this thread...seakyl build with coral homes but had her cabinet maker install the creastyle stuff instead of laminex as she swears by it! you can see in these pics how awesome it looks... http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=9539&hilit=seakyl&start=60 hope this helps... 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Laminate kitchen benchtop question 5May 17, 2009 1:13 pm I don't know if the people that did our kitchen will install just a bench top. You could ring and ask. We had the whole kitchen made by Kitchens by Alliance. The bench top is Diamond Gloss. They are located near the Royal Children's Hospital although I know they were being turfed out of their shop due to the new road going through there. I am sure you would still be able to track them down if you call their number.
