Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 15, 2009 9:45 am Hi, We are building with Wincr3st Homes in North West Sydney. HAd our colours and Tiles appointment with B3aumont Tiles in March 2008!! Somehow now when the time has come to do the tiles again, the builder has changed the provider to DiLor3nz0 tiles in Norwest. So I get another bite of the cherry. Michelle, here are my current combos Kitchens Splash Back - Black Tiles Bench Top - Granite Steel Grey Cupboard Doors - Dulux Bone White (Matt) Cabinets - Draws - Kickboard - Dulux Bone White Hardware / Taps - Handles - Feature Lighting - Lighting - Downlights Question for you - As only tiles can be changed, I have an opportunity to put anything apart from Black...any suggestions on what it should be? Also, my floor tiles in kitchen are yet to be decided too...My ground floor is Timber (Blackbutt). Any suggestions will be the best I will have as I have no clue and probably I am colour blind too Re: Help on Kitchen Colours - Michelle!! 2May 15, 2009 10:05 pm Hi Mohit, sorry i'm not michelle but just wanted to say that your colour scheme sounds lovely! Very similar to what I want, but we will be having grey tile effect vinyl as we will have lots of littlies in the house. would love to see some pics once its done! kathleen Re: Help on Kitchen Colours - Michelle!! 3May 19, 2009 4:43 pm Hi kathleen, We got the opportunity to change, so we have modified it a bit. Instead of Jet black splashnack tiles, we have asked for a quote on Moccha coloured glass tiles.. Should that come out to be expensive (On a tight leash in these tough economic times) then might as well go with simple frosted splash back. We haven't thought of a plan B at this stage. Wher r u building and have your done your colour selection? Re: Help on Kitchen Colours - Michelle!! 4May 20, 2009 2:10 am mohit - do you know if it's just the area you're in that has changed suppliers, or for all Wincrest customers? I've just shot off an email to ask them. I will be extremely ** off if it's true, as my whole colour scheme is based on those colours. Thanks. Judie Re: Help on Kitchen Colours - Michelle!! 5May 21, 2009 12:51 am Hi Mohit, We're signing our final contracts and plan tomorrow so we're still a while from our pre-start meeting I think - a few weeks at least. I thought I had my colours finalised in my mind but I keep changing, its just so hard to imagine what the whole area will look like from looking at those tiny chips! We're building in The Rivergums (Baldivis) WA with RedInk. Mocha tiles sounds great, that should make it a little easier to match furniture as well if you go with that mix of colours. That's a problem that we might face I think and I can't really afford to replace the furniture that doesn't match - I think I will be running up some slipcovers for now!! Maybe see if the builder will reduce their markup for you on the mocha tiles since its a bit of an inconvenience for you. The worst thing they can do is say no? Good luck with everything, let me know how you go ok! Judie Hi Judie, I am not sure whether it is the area or just wincrest being wincrest. They did not even inform us of the change. I contacted the Tilers (The mob that was to supply labour in our previous selection) and they told me that thye are not doing it anymore. On contacting our superviser he said that the new company should have contacted us a while back. No one did. So I chased up everyone I could to get a time with the new Mob and went in there last Saturday to choose again. As the new mob did not have the same colours, we had to change every tile that we had selected and their colours were a lot different to our eralier supplier. All in all another one of wincr3st's stuff ups, but I guess, I should just be happy that they are building again. In order of the new developments ($$ coming very high) we have decided to go to the tile company again today and re look at our options. I hope that you have a much smoother ride that I have had here in Sydney. As for colours, I guess we all only take a stab in the dark. I am not good with imagination and probably it will reflect when we have our house ready. Till that time we are very pleased with pur selection!! Re: Help on Kitchen Colours - Michelle!! 9Jun 02, 2009 2:12 pm Sorry to have reinvegortaed this thread.. I am in a fix and confused (as I posted in another thread me and my partner are probably the most non creative creatures to walk this planet) We had an opportunity and changed our colour combination a bit. Here are the new ones Kitchens Splash Back - Beige (was black before) Bench Top - Granite Steel Grey Cupboard Doors - Dulux Bone White (Matt) Cabinets - White Kickboard - Dulux Bone White Hardware / Taps - Chrome Handles - Chrome Lighting - Downlights We still cannot decide what colur/type of tiles/flooring we want in the kitchen. We looked at "blackbutt pre finished" - could not garee, then got a couple of samples of Glazed Porcelain tiles (creamish shades) again could not agree. In a fix now and looking for some massive massive help from you all. Re: Help on Kitchen Colours - Michelle!! 10Jun 02, 2009 10:20 pm Hi Mohit, Sorry to hear you're having such a rough ride.... choosing interiors is such a struggle! Do you have any photos of your selections? Is it a dark beige or light beige splashback that you've chosen? I'm assuming it is tiles? IMHO... If you're going to go timber floors I think you need a colour in the splashback to tie in the greys and the browns (or a feature tile that does this). Again, if you're going to go a creamy tile on the floor I'd suggest a splashback with a bit more colour in it... Are you definite on the colour of the timber? I think if you can decide on your flooring it'll make your splashback decision easier... I've tried to post some examples of your selections to try and assist with peoples suggestions.... let me know if they're way off the mark! The Tiles for splashback are light beige (creamish). I do not have pictures as yet, will try and click some this arvo and post tomorrow/tonight. All other colours that you have posted are correct. As mentioned, we are not able to decide even on the type of flooring. Tiles seems to be the favoured option from both of us, but cannot decide on teh colours and texture Re: Help on Kitchen Colours - Michelle!! 12Jun 03, 2009 9:43 am Drop this in my forum, its all I have time for at the moment.
