Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 09, 2009 3:08 am hello everyone, we are building a house in Perth with Peter Stannard Homes. Our specifications include solid timber kitchen cupboards. i have been hooked on to this site for weeks now. I love Mrs. B's kitchen. Now i am confused if i should go for a white kitchen but hubby loves the timber look he thinks timber never goes out of style. My friend thinks otherwise. Pls help me with opinions cheers sveta Re: solid timber kitchen cupboards or white cupboards? your pick 2May 09, 2009 7:27 am IMO, it all depends what look you are after. Mrs. B's beautiful kitchen is very modern while timber kitchens are usually more classic looking. A completely different style. Re: solid timber kitchen cupboards or white cupboards? your pick 3May 09, 2009 8:53 am I love timber, but only with a modern, sleek and un-fussy profile. We had Tassie Oak in our old kitchen, but chose a rectangular routed door, which I think dated - I wanted a plain, flat profile, but gave in to my husband. Yeah, that's the first and last time THAT'S ever going to happen! If you're the traditional type and love the farmhouse look, then a different style might be great. Personally, I dislike leadlight doors and fussy details, like these: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ But these, I don't mind at all: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Not sure that this one is actually timber, it's probably laminate, but I'm sure you could achieve a similar look with real timber: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It's all a matter of taste - you need to know what you like, so I suggest you look around kitchen displays to get a better idea of the choices available before you decide. Re: solid timber kitchen cupboards or white cupboards? your pick 4May 09, 2009 10:25 am i think it also depends on your home as sometimes the timber kitchen can make the room seems close in. I think the timber kitchens can look great in the right home and right decor. But white kitchen donot date either the good things is you can change the accessories if you get sick of them without having have to change the whole kitchen and you can have awhole new look finished building 40 square home on 5 acres with perry homes.working on the landscaping just finished pool deck with ://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=2217 Re: solid timber kitchen cupboards or white cupboards? your pick 5May 09, 2009 12:36 pm Thanx heaps for all your responses. Thanx keks for those pics. Got heaps of ideas from there. May be keeping it simple is the key. We were thinking of having sultan gold granite benchtop. What does everyone think of that. Also what flooring would go with it? Here is the link to our display home. We have made a few changes to the kitchen like pushing the kitchen wall out and making it bigger and having an island benchtop instead of a U shaped kitchen? http://www.peterstannard.com.au/dynasty.html sveta Re: solid timber kitchen cupboards or white cupboards? your pick 7May 10, 2009 12:27 pm sveta, I like the kitchen that's shown in that display - the dynasty. We use turmeric and other spices a lot too, and yes, they can stain. We have a light-coloured stone benchtop and haven't had any problems though. Stubborn stains just need a little Jif or something similar. Do you have a picture of the granite you like? Re: solid timber kitchen cupboards or white cupboards? your pick 9May 10, 2009 8:24 pm thanx kek thanx macy..its timber kitchen then but we have changed the layout to an island kitchen. So its an open kitchen now. i will try to get a picture of the sultan gold granite. havnt found it yet. i found the stone at the Granite warehouse. Re: solid timber kitchen cupboards or white cupboards? your pick 10May 10, 2009 8:28 pm here is the link. you can find sultan gold in the list.the picture actually does not do it justice..any alternative suggestions are most welcome. the cupboards are going to be made of unstained Tasi Oak Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15924 You may still have a case, but your next step is to speak to a lawyer. 3 1651 If this is a custom build then I would expect the builder to set out the door frame closer to the wall to avoid the gap between architrave and the wall and or specify… 9 8324 |
