Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 05, 2009 10:38 pm hi there we are needing to replace all our kitchen appliances after losing them all in the kleenmaid bankruptcy. Not sure where to start - we like miele but a little exxy if we don't get any money back. We'd like to go european (don't ask me why - personal preference) though dont know much about other brands. We're liking the look of new Smeg range but noticed it has got heaps of mixed reviews. Not sure about st george/baumatic/de deitrich. We're after oven (UBO - would like 70cm), induction cooktop, wallmounted rangehood and dishwasher. Any advice/reviews would be much appreciated thanks about to build our first home! Re: kitchen appliances 2May 06, 2009 12:00 am Where are you located? Can't help you with brands but some stores in Victoria are doing some really good deals for people that have been ripped off by Kleenmaid. I also lost a lot of money and have just reverted to the builder's standard which is Blanco. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Smeg advertised on their website that they have specialpackages available to kleenmaid clients - when i called they said that some retail outlets will offer cost price on the equivalent item 'lost'. However when I asked what the cost price was, they said it depended on the store. My local HN gave 10% off RRP but another store said that they can easily beat that. What does cost price mean anyway? thanks for your replies about to build our first home! Re: kitchen appliances 5May 07, 2009 7:17 pm Hi - this is my first post - we were also involved with the Kleenmaid debacle - those guys should be thrown in jail!! Anyway that's not going to solve any problems - has anyone heard of Visa/Mastercard refunding their money yet? There's been lots of newpaper articles saying that if you paid via CC you should get your money back. I'd love to hear from anyone who has successfully had their money refunded. We need to buy new appliances but are holding off for the moment - as if we get the money back, we will be able to afford a bit more than the bottom of the range stuff! Re: kitchen appliances 6May 11, 2009 8:07 pm We've had Smeg oven and hotplates previously and well, they were good just not that good and frankly we didn't they it was that much better than some of the Australian brands on reflection. This latest kitchen reno we looked at going all Miele but felt they were overpriced for some items and didn't have the features to match the pricing. We ended up with an all in one ilve oven and hotplate (and an ilve rangehood) and couldn't be happier, added a Miele combo oven (that I love) and a Miele nespresso built in coffee machine. BTW Miele do fantastic dishwashers - super quiet. We've had two now in different places and would buy again. Hi, we were alos caught up in it. A rep from Kleenmaid rang me last week. Apparently, a few customers that he is dealing with have already been refunded, they were with CBA and ANZ and he has other dlients that have been told by their financial isntitution that they will be reimbursed in around 4 to 5 weeks. But, this was only what the Kleenmaid rep told me, so who knows. We have heard nothing from our credit union. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 6624 2 4657 that will depend on the kitchen bench depth. you'll have to specify it so it allows for both the tap and the sink 1 7379 |
