Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 05, 2009 3:25 pm so i can get the red tiles i wanted for the Splashback (GRRRR stubborn builders!) so i had a think and am considering red lower cupboards instead; something like this cherry red on lower cupboards only with overheads in white and very pale gray bench. (our floors will be similar in colour to the pic) and stainless appliances any thoughts? Just be careful that you get the right colour red though, otherwise it could turn out a disaster Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Re: New kitchen Colour scheme 11May 06, 2009 2:23 pm here is my kitcken elevation in the red colour scheme. its a U shaped kitchen with the stove at the top of the U. I found a wilsonart laminate sample in Hollyberry which is a beautiful deep cherry red which i think will work beautifully! the benchtop will be laminex ash flint and white tiling and top cuboards. its quite a large kitchen so im not concerned about the darker colour making it seem smaller and i really want to make a feature out of the kitchen! If you have other red items in the room I don't think it would look strange. Re: New kitchen Colour scheme 15May 06, 2009 4:19 pm I think you should wrap the colour around the back of the benchtops, ie not keep it contained within the kitchen to get the full effect. I also think white down low also has the potential to dirty up or show marks whereas the red would be a stunning feature and not so prone to look grubby (but again depends on what kind of a housecleaner you are, I guess). Re: New kitchen Colour scheme 18May 06, 2009 9:40 pm yes that is the pantry. Im not a fan of the frosted doors though. We are having open shelves above the tiles on either side of the windows on the opposite side to display me pretty stuff! We thought of using red (dynasty - laminex) but on mock ups got a bit scared of too much red.......try blocking in different bits in red eg one side, pantry/wall oven and see if less still has good effect - red is a very strong colour and will draw from everything else in that room.......will you love it as much in a week, month year.
