Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: New kitchen Colour scheme 21May 06, 2009 11:50 pm I'm going to be a bit of a party pooper on this one. I think you kitchen design is great - love the pot drawers and appliance cupb... etc The red really worries me because you are looking at a stunning picture, in all ways - not to mention professionally photographed... I would be worried that in my mind I am building that picture, and not my kitchen. does that make sense??? If you go ahead, and if you listen to everyone here you might! then tread really carefully.. look at everything in that picture before you say - ok. Perhaps seek out different kitchens to this one done in red. That might help too! Good luck, and I def want to see it if you take the leap! Annie A thankful person is a happy person. [/color]My hobby design blog: http://aviewondesign.blogspot.com/ Re: New kitchen Colour scheme 22May 07, 2009 3:02 am I love colour in a room and I'm not the sort of person who can do all white anywhere but, red would scare me (Im not that partial to red as a colour luckily so I've never been tempted) but it's a very daring way to go, so if you like it then go for it and enjoy it. the picture looks stunning, and I love the fact that it's more cherry/burgundy-ish than a red. I also think a big part of the appeal, to me at least, of what you posted is the high gloss finish and I dont think it would look half as good without that so something to think about if you're having a lower gloss finish on your cupboards. Re: New kitchen Colour scheme 23May 07, 2009 11:03 am im getting a quote for both laminate and 2pac for the lower cupboards (Im coming around to the gloss finish, only problem is we are planning a family in the near future and little finger prints!) After having looked at your original thought of the red splash back, I really like your choice of red cupboards instead. It looks great. All the best for your building. Love love love it!!! My kitchen does not get much natural light, so I have to have whitish doors to lighten it up. but I would love to do something like that (although conservative DH would not, I think!) Good on you!!! I hated red all my life until we built this house and DH's bathroom has red and gray accents. Since then I have also done our study with red accents as well. Your kitchen is absolutely gorgeous - I would put it up as one of the best on this site (after my own LOL!!) Hope you enjoy it as much as I love mine.... Some things are worth waiting for. Re: New kitchen Colour scheme UPDATE: Finished product!!! 36May 05, 2010 5:57 pm Gorgeous!! Love it!! That looks amazing. Can't wait to see it with the flooring and appliances. Re: New kitchen Colour scheme UPDATE: Finished product!!! 37May 05, 2010 6:28 pm Your kitchen definitely has the WOW factor!!! Congratulations, it looks fantastic!!! While I don't like stainless steel appliances, I think they are the only option in your kitchen. What colour/type of flooring will you have? Imho, it would need to be understated so the cupboard doors are the feature, but in saying that I'm sure you've chosen something that will complete the look. Re: New kitchen Colour scheme UPDATE: Finished product!!! 38May 05, 2010 7:36 pm Very stylish and looks amazing. I love the gloss and depth of colour. Well done on being brave and it has paid off. Its got that designer touch. What splash will you have with that?
