Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 05, 2009 9:58 am So we are getting our kitchen supplied by a cabinetmaker. Now all along we wanted gloss white for the cupboards but seeing as were on a tight budget we cant afford the gloss cabinets and have to go with the plain mat type. So still going with white and I thought well gloss benchtops are standard and I thought that if we get the benchtop in white as well then there is our gloss white. However DW doesn't want to go all white (even after months ago we argued over repainting the lounge room wall white because she wants the clean crisp look) she want's to have the bench tops darker. I don't really like any of the dark colours that are standard so what do I do, I don't want a kitchen I am not going to like once it's put in. Help me what can I do alternatively? Re: And I thought choosing benchtops would be easy 2May 05, 2009 12:15 pm I'm considering an all white kitchen too. Snow Ceaserstone benchtop (or the new pure white colour) and satin white polyurethane cupboards. The benchtop will certainly be white, but the only option is to use a light warm grey for the cupboards. Decisions, decisions ... What about a not very white benchtop. Why not have a dark splashback instead. In the benchtop colours I like the one you like and the one under it (big samples)? And on the sheet, the second whitish one with the arrow. I have had dark benchtops with white cupboards and it does look nice, never seems to date but I wouldn't have it again only because I need to have something different this time. Re: And I thought choosing benchtops would be easy 9May 05, 2009 3:29 pm On the chart I like: 1st row - 2nd and 3rd ones(I think the new one is Pure Mineralstone - MrsRusty has a thread in the kitchen thread with this used it looks fantastic!) 2nd row - 1st and 2nd ones I agree do white cupboards, a mid colour range benchtop and then a darker splashback... Re: And I thought choosing benchtops would be easy 12May 07, 2009 8:11 pm I am having Gloss white cupboards, Osprey c.stone tops and Red Buff Glass Splashback. SO it will be whitish with the splash of colour. Did that help at all, probably not.
