Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 04, 2009 2:48 pm Hi Everyone, I visited our building site over the weekend and to my excitement the kitchen had been put in Before long though i started picking things and I noticed white lining around the edges of the microwave space. (from inside the cupboards) The microwave space is in the island bench. Now, would i be right in presuming that i shouldn't be able to see any white and that the cabinet makers are at fault here?? or is this the common way microwave spaces are done?? I would think that the peices around the microwave should be flush with the lower draw cupboard and also the cupboard to the right hand side. This way no white peices would be visible?? What do you guys think?? Is this acceptable or should I be opening my mouth up and asking for it to be redone/fixed?? (hopefully there wouldn't be too much involved in fixing it) Also has anyone had problems with their being a bit of a gap between where the cupboards open?? One of the cupboards have quite a sizeable gap. All of your input would be greatly appreciated!! Picture below. I would have specified those coloured boards so that they finish,as you say, flush with the drawer front...you might still see a BIT of white but it would not be so obvious. You can try and take it up with your supplier - it is not a BIG job to redo, but they probably won't be happy about it. Best would be if you can offer a comparison from a display or illustration of similar. Can't hurt to ask. Good luck, Earl Re: Kitchen Concerns - Microwave Space 3May 04, 2009 4:56 pm Hi Strumer, thanks for your reply. I did mean to go past a few of the h3nley displays over the weekend to see if this method is how others of theirs are done but forgot!! now i won't have time to go past until next weekend and am hoping to address it well before then.. I suppose i will mention it to the site supervisor and see what he has to say about it.. thanks again! Re: Kitchen Concerns - Microwave Space 4May 04, 2009 6:38 pm Gaps between cupboard doors might not be a big deal - the hinges may just need some minor adjustment. Ask you site supervisor anyway. Re: Kitchen Concerns - Microwave Space 5May 04, 2009 6:49 pm If they close that gap between the door and the cavity the drawer underneath will probably jam when opening or closing. If they are really unhappy about replacing the cavity coloured boards they can always move them all forward by 16mm - this will create a small gap at the back of the cavity but at least they won't have to provide new boards (don't offer hem this solution unless absolutely necessary). The more I look at that image the more wrong it appears - as far as I am concerned, given that the boards are such a dark finish, those specs really aren't acceptable. Cheers, Earl Re: Kitchen Concerns - Microwave Space 6May 05, 2009 9:15 am I agree strumer, the microwave space is already starting to really peeve me off and i dont even have to look at it everyday!!! I really don't care if they did just move all the peices forward the 16mm as long as i dont see such an obvious white line all around the microwave space! So you think it is pretty easy for them to just replace these boards so they are flush or to move them forward? That is good i didn't want them to have to replace the whole island bench or something just because of the microwave space.. haha thanks kek i will definately mention to site supervisor and hopefully like you say it is easy fix and nothing really to worry about Thanks for all replies. I just noticed now the pictures I added to post right on top of page were wrong. I attached pictures showing "current" and my "suggested" floor… 9 14695 Regardless of wall hung toilet or floor pan toilet your feet will be right on drain, seems to me the waste should not be in that location given the design. Also are you… 6 7123 You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want. Cabinetmakers use MDF because its cheap… 2 10083 |
