Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 26, 2009 6:16 pm I am signing my contract on Thursday for my new kitchen I am having some last minute doubts I do not want any "I wish I had done this" moments and want this kitchen to take me through the next 15-20 years! My design has 3 x 3 sets of drawers with all the drawers being 1 metre wide (they have 45kg Hettich runners). Is this too much? Too wide? Anyone care to share their measurements TIA, Kelly Re: Quick info needed - how wide are your drawers??? 2Apr 26, 2009 7:38 pm We have two banks of three pot drawers and they are 900mm wide. I don't find them big at all so another 10cm probably wouldn't bother me Happy at Home Re: Quick info needed - how wide are your drawers??? 5Apr 26, 2009 11:12 pm Ours are 800mm Innotech soft close drawers If you're happy with the width of your choice that's all that matters - don't worry the panic/questioning of the choice is all normal Re: Quick info needed - how wide are your drawers??? 6Apr 28, 2009 5:27 pm we have 5 banks of draws in the kitchen, most of them are around 900. i think the wider the better. But I also made most banks with a narrow draw at the top and then deeper ones at the bottom. this way you can make use of space a bit better "The fearless are merely fearless. People who act in spite of their fear are truly brave" - James A. LaFond-Lewis Re: Quick info needed - how wide are your drawers??? 7Apr 28, 2009 5:39 pm Finally signed off on all the cabinetry today so I have dimensions. 1 bank of 3 drawers 650mm wide. 1 bank of 3 drawers 900mm wide. 2 deep pot drawers 600mm wide in bottom of appliance tower. Standard bank of 4 drawers we have widened to 750mm wide from 450mm wide by absorbing an adjoining cupboard. The standard banks of 4 drawers seem to always be too narrow. I'd always widen these if at all possible. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Re: Quick info needed - how wide are your drawers??? 10Apr 29, 2009 11:58 am Thanks everyone. I am having second thoughts about the 1m wide drawers...I just think they're too big I prefer the look of 800mm drawers but because of the space I have that would mean I'd have one odd 600mm cupboard tacked on at the end... which might look even worse. Decisions decisions.... BTW the runners are 45kg Hetttich IIRC and I will be using at least a couple of the drawers to house my crockery. Obviously I do not want to overload them ...is 45kg good enough? What do others have? Re: Quick info needed - how wide are your drawers??? 11Apr 29, 2009 1:25 pm I was also worried about crockery over loading drawers over time and I thought it would be a real pain to try to figure out dimensions of the drawers (depth wise) in the planning stages. I decided to stick with a cupboard for crockery but I will fit it out with customised wire slide out baskets (high quality ones). I guess it is the same as drawers in effect, but I like that I'll be able to work out exact sizes for each slide out, rather than sticking with a traditional pot drawer depth to fit in with the rest of the kitchen cabinetry. I also like that visually I'll be able to see the whole cupbaords contents all at once and be able to see what is where. Probably wouldn't work for everyone, but it makes sense to me. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Quick info needed - how wide are your drawers??? 12Apr 30, 2009 7:50 am Thanks joles! Well today is the day and I am signing my contract this arvo! Wow, it's all so exciting since I never had the opportunity to pick n choose stuff with my first kitchen. So so excited that in another 6-8 weeks I will have a functional and (hopefully) beautiful kitchen! WOOT! still haven't totally sorted the colours though I will post pics when it's done of course that’s in the wall, it’s more about the trap and basin location within the cabinet. If the basin inset or the trap is sideways there is less space within the vanity… 4 1565 Hi, Seeking volume or semi-custom builder in victoria(east), which have existing double story wide floor plans.
