Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 21, 2009 1:32 pm Hi! We are just in the planning stages of our new house, and I'm already obsessed about the kitchen! I like the idea of the kitchen sink having a built in stainless steel splashback (so any splashed water runs straight back into the sink), but have been unable to find any. Anyone seen anything like this? Or am I just dreaming of something that doesn't exist? Re: Silly kitchen sink/splashback question 2Apr 21, 2009 1:40 pm The only ones I have seen have been in the US and are actually all one piece - benchtop / splash / sink moulded out of a sheet of stainless. They weren't cheap either. Can't remember where I saw them unfortunately - was when I was researching sinks on the internet. Some things are worth waiting for. Trust me!! It will be lighting, switches, power points, colours of bench-tops, cupboards, doors or pot drawers..Psst! GO FOR THE POT DRAWERS!! Where do i put this, how do i do this!! the list goes on... and on... and on..... But it's so much fun, even if you don't sleep because you are stressing about the countertop overlapping the French doors! I know i will look back and smile, but right now Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck! - Dalai Lama Re: Silly kitchen sink/splashback question 4Apr 21, 2009 2:00 pm I've seen the ones welded to stainless steel benchtops, but I kind of want stone benches with just the sink and splashback joined. Maybe I could get someone to weld a splash back to the sink before installing? I know this is just the start of my obsession (I've definitely thought about those pot drawers - I'm just not sure where to put them yet). Re: Silly kitchen sink/splashback question 5Apr 21, 2009 8:23 pm Go and see a local sheet metal place who specialise in stainless. Take your sizes and a comfy chair, you wont want to be standing when you get your price. Possumchops Now the proud owner of 3.7acres of Serenity. Colour selection completed! Soon to go to council. Re: Silly kitchen sink/splashback question 6Apr 22, 2009 12:57 am This is going to sound crazy, but i went into REECE today to pick up my new kitchen tap and the sales lady and I got talking about these very things. Because they had a working display set up with all various taps, shower heads etc where all the water was came down and anything that splashed would be washed down on slopping edge and all collected in the one area. I haven't really described it too well, but basically it was a stainless steel sink with a slopping edge at one end. I never actually asked her if it was custom made, but give them a call. It was REECE in East Perth. Re: Silly kitchen sink/splashback question 7Apr 22, 2009 7:16 am KT+2 Hi! We are just in the planning stages of our new house, and I'm already obsessed about the kitchen! Anyone seen anything like this? Or am I just dreaming of something that doesn't exist? I'm guessing anything in available at the right price! Maybe try thinking along commercial lines...... Life's too short too drink bad wine Re: Silly kitchen sink/splashback question 8Apr 22, 2009 1:52 pm Well, there's a lot of commercial ones, but I don't think they'd look very good with the rest of the kitchen. But after much googling I found something very similar to what I'm after! It's an Elkay, and kind of pricey. Now I just have to figure out how I can afford one..... I'll try to attach the pic. But I'm not really after the freestanding type, I just want a drop-in or flushmount type. The elkay one in the picture looks like it's a freestanding, but it's actually just a drop-in and they've put on stainless doors and towel rack to match. They also make another type with 2 full bowls without the drainer on the side, which is ok but it doesn't make me drool like this one. Photo won't upload properly!
