The builder will have lost money because they would have bulk ordered and paid something..... BUT, that is not your problem. It is in effect a supply problem, not the customer's issue. There should be some fine print in your contract..... "from time to time items may not be available and a substitute will be offered" yadda, yadda.... but it usually says something to the effect that the substitute will be of "similar quality". PUSH this. Really play the "One of the reasons I signed up was because of quality appliances" card. This is their first offer..... make your counter offer. Good luck guys, let us know how you go!
