Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 15, 2009 5:17 pm Hi everyone, My first house is going to begin construction in a couple of months. My wife and me are running around looking at various stuff for the interiors - carpets...taps ...benchtops..tiles etc etc... The builder has indicated (no quote as yet) that a casearstone benchtop would be about 4K....is that a reasonable amount. Which would be a better alternative - granite or caesar stone? im confused!!!!! Regards Abhi Re: Costs of Benchtops 2Apr 15, 2009 5:40 pm There has been quite alot posted about this topic. I'm sure someone will post the links for you. viewtopic.php?f=16&t=16326 Really depends on the look you are after, size of slab & what colour granite you want vs. CS. Life's too short too drink bad wine Re: Costs of Benchtops 3Apr 15, 2009 10:40 pm What linear mtrs of counter tops have you got to do? what expectations do you have ? What colour/shade/efffect? Do you consider $4k expensive? Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: Costs of Benchtops 4Apr 16, 2009 12:34 pm Its not that I find 4K as such expensive, I just dont know what is normal and what is expensive for bench tops. Its like getting charged $10 for a can of coke. Unless you know that you can get the can elsewhere for less than $1 or at the most say $2-$3 then you would not realise that $10 is expensive. Thanks for the links to the benchtop debate...We have not yet reached the shade or colour stage. Just wanted to know the price range..so that we can budget and save accordingly . We dont want to go all out on carpets and stuff and then realise that we dont have enough for a benchtop which we figure will be more important then say light and tap fittings. The size is approximately 4 to 5 lineal metres. Ours is an L shaped Island so am not sure if that will cost more. Thanks Re: Costs of Benchtops 5Apr 16, 2009 4:46 pm abhi Its not that I find 4K as such expensive, I just dont know what is normal and what is expensive for bench tops.
