Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 14, 2009 11:38 pm i can't make up my mind about the colour of the walls of the kitchen and the wall units. It's an open, L shaped kitchen and because it's at the end of the house facing the backyard...it is very well lit with natural light. Which colours should I go for?? I am not very keen on dark colours as the kitchen is not very big...Please give me some ideas!!! I'm really looking forward to your suggestions!! Re: Another advice-on-colour question!! 2Apr 15, 2009 7:11 am What colour are you having for the base units and benchtop etc? We are going with very neutral colours, we have a dark floor (slate) and will have loads of windows with views into the back yard. I figure keeping the colours simple mean that we can easily change the look of the rooms with different pieces such as flowers, rugs etc. I just loooove some of the colour schemes people have in their kitchens, but we're just not that brave! Re: Another advice-on-colour question!! 3Apr 15, 2009 10:23 am Hmmm...thanx for replying esg... I'm totally new at this and so I might be going at it the wrong way, but, I was going to start with the colour of the walls and then coordinate the units, splashback, etc... Both my husband and I have a conservative taste and would also like neutral colours. I was thinking of something like cream, or a very light shade of yellow which will reflect the sunlight??!! Still thinking.... Re: Another advice-on-colour question!! 4Apr 15, 2009 4:32 pm Moodyfish Hmmm...thanx for replying esg... Still thinking.... i have some personal experience with a "very light shade of yellow" paint in a room that gets lots of natural light...DONT DO IT it can get very yellow! I think this can actually make an space look dated before the paint is even dry. if i knew then what i knew now... funnily my previous kitchen was yellow (not my doing) and i re-painted it white because i hated it so much. i dont really have any explanation for why i chose lemon-y paint for my new kitchen Re: Another advice-on-colour question!! 5Apr 16, 2009 11:11 pm That's exactly what I was afraid of!! I don't want to whole area to become an egg yolk! lol.... Maybe I'll go for a off white of cream... Thanx for that! i was hoping somebody who had used yellow would reply!
