Stila BK1 Build Thread The best place to talk about sport Re: Washing Machines - Recommendations 3Apr 14, 2009 7:52 pm Not a F-P. I bought one about 9 years ago impressed by its direct drive mechanics. But the electronic panel failed twice over the course of 7 years at $300 a pop. The service tech said this was not unusual. He got the least calls about Miele so I got one of their front loaders. Good water economy and washes clothes fine. Expensive but no problems for the past 3 years. Re: Washing Machines - Recommendations 4Apr 14, 2009 8:21 pm Miele is the one to go. I bought an Electrolux front loader a few years ago. After a few months a sock found its way into the drain pump and blocked the whole machine. After another few months some underwear got stuck between the inner and outer drums during a wash and caused the belt to break. They finally gave me a new machine after waiting for weeks for the part. I then sold the electrolux on ebay and bought a new miele instead, which is still going strong after years of washing. Re: Washing Machines - Recommendations 5Apr 14, 2009 9:06 pm This might help you, I asked a similar question a little while ago - http://www.forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14785 I ended up buying a Bosch front loader, haven't tested yet as I haven't moved to new place yet so still packed up. Re: Washing Machines - Recommendations 6Apr 14, 2009 9:10 pm We bought the most basic model Miele a few months ago after much research. Its fantastic! We previously had an Ariston front loader, it required a lot of servicing only after a few years so we were suitably not impressed with that brand. Re: Washing Machines - Recommendations 7Apr 14, 2009 9:37 pm We have bought a Miele front loader for our new house because it is better for everything apparently, but we have had 2 Fisher & Paykel WM over the last 14 years and the first one lasted over 10 years and we are only getting a new machine for the new laundry because we are having the bench made for a front loader, we will have a perfectly good F&P washer & dryer to sell when we move into the new place. Re: Washing Machines - Recommendations 8Apr 14, 2009 10:39 pm We have an Asko front loader - love it! We did have to have the switch replaced under waranty, the service was quick and profesional. Re: Washing Machines - Recommendations 10Apr 14, 2009 10:51 pm Love , love, love my Miele front loader. I have a Fisher & PAykel top loader at our holiday house, which I've been a little disappointed in - their front loaders may be better, not sure! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Washing Machines - Recommendations 11Apr 14, 2009 11:29 pm We bought a Bosch front loader about a month ago. I love it a little too much. It's quiet, gentle and never goes out of balance like our old machine. The novelty of washing in it hasn't worn off yet. I hang around waiting for clothes to get dirty so i can do a load Re: Washing Machines - Recommendations 12Apr 14, 2009 11:34 pm got a F&P aquasmart top loader... love it.. uses front loader detergent and same amount of water as front loader with all your top loader benefits... Re: Washing Machines - Recommendations 13Apr 15, 2009 11:12 am My dad has an LG front loader and drier in one. And its awful awful awful. It doesnt actually dry the clothes , it pretty much makes them hot and damp even on the driest setting. and has a hot wet smell. Its gross. I dont think it cleans very well either. For normal wear with the proper detergent for front loaders they still come out with dirt and still kinda smell. We have tried many detergent aswell. Not to mention if you put in one load for normal wash and dry its takes about 4 hours and the clothes still come out steaming hot and damp and you have to hang them anyway. If you want to get your clothes out before its finished forget about it. It locks the door. Even if you turn it off at the wall you have to wait 40 mins before it will let you open it. GGRRRRRRRR PHHHEEEWWWW thats my rant on that!!!!! Until my new house is built and whilst im staying with dad, ill be handwashing everything its faster and I dont have to fight with the so called "washing" machine Living in Caloundra Thread****** Lovin my house all finished!!! Now tackling the HUGE task of the Garden- viewtopic.php?f=31&t=14782 Re: Washing Machines - Recommendations 14Apr 15, 2009 11:17 am We have got an LG front loader, bought it back in 2002 and it's still going strong, and I really like the rapid wash option. If we need to replace it I will definitely get another front loader but I would get a more well known brand such as Miele or Bosch as the machine gets a real workout now with 2 young kids.
