Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 13, 2009 7:25 am As some of you know I am trying to decide on what model Bosch diswasher to get. I was looking at a built under model, But not a intregated one. But I am having trouble trying to picture what the bottom kick board area will look like if I go for one of these In the shops they never have the kick boards on them! I know the front of the machine will line up flush with the cupboards but I dont know how far the kick board will recess back compared to the kickboard on the cupboards, and what gaps will be around it. The floor space has been tiled so I could get a free standing one and just put it into the hole, then the front of the dishwasher will be right down to the floor, but it will stick out a bit in front of the cupboards, but still be under the bench top. Can you please post some photos of your dishwashers so I can see the look of both. Thankyou Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: Show me your dishwasher installed please. 2Apr 13, 2009 10:10 am Taffy my kitchen maker had my dishwasher so he could fit it in perfectly. He put the same size kickboard on it as the cupboards and even made a pretend handle at the top so it continued all the way along the cupboards. It is semi-integrated so has a cupboard panel on the front but the top is SS. Probably no help with your enquiry Re: Show me your dishwasher installed please. 3Apr 13, 2009 10:14 am I would love to Taffy but mine still doesn't have the kick board attached so it won't look any good miele keep sending me wrong ones... I can confirm the quiteness ... I hardly ever hear it and even when I do it is draining in the sink anyway! Very happy with it! Re: Show me your dishwasher installed please. 5Apr 18, 2009 8:30 pm Thanks matt See how your dishwasher sits out just a fraction from the cabinets. Well this is the look I will have if I go with the "free standing" model. DH reckons this will be ok as we can pull it out from time to time to clean around the gaps each side and underneath it as bits always get there! Plus what I like about it is that the dishwasher fills the space from under the benchtop right down to the floor. Also where you have a bit of cabinet eachside of your dishwasher down to the floor we dont have that, just the recessed kick rail if you get my meaning. Where if we go the built in one It wont fit tight as it wasnt made to measure, so the face of the dishwasher will fit flush with the cabinets but will still have a gap each side of about 5cms but because it is fixed to the benchtop it will be hard to clean in those gaps! And also the dishwasher door will finish higher than the door of my cabinets and the kick rail finish deeper back than the kickboards of the cabinets. Thats why I am having such a dilema I am thinking now if I go with the built under model then I should have decided ages ago and have the gap made so the dishwasher fitted tightly, and carried on the kick rail in one piece underneath! But then again if it needed repair it would be hard to get out So after talking to DH I am thinking of going for the free standing model. What are your opinions on this? From someone who has this syle. Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: Show me your dishwasher installed please. 6Apr 18, 2009 11:52 pm Personally ... I like! But I am a guy and I know nothing when it comes to kitchens etc... I like the fact that I can remove it if need be (ie anything goes wrong) and that if I want to change the style of the kitchen to white (for example) I could too. Re: Show me your dishwasher installed please. 7Apr 19, 2009 1:04 am Thats what my DH reckons if anything goes wrong we can get it out you men must think all the same Think I will end up with this one going, the other way sounds too complicated to shop around for best price now! Hi donuts, I would still like to see the photo as it will give me some idea. I just downloaded the installation instructions and It says that I can take the lid off the free standing one to install it underbench. That would give me an option of sitting it further back if I want as the lid has an overhang at the back and I havnt got to worry about kickboards, Also it didnt say anything about having to screw it in. But on the built under model it said to screw it to the underside of the bench top. I think its cause their made differently and maybe could topple forward when the racks are pulled out. Dont know if DH would like this idea of the screwing in though. These dishwashers are about the same price so it all comes down to looks as per usual I just cant make up my mind which to go for Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: Show me your dishwasher installed please. 10Apr 19, 2009 10:51 am ok Taffy I'll try to get a pic of it soon. Re: Show me your dishwasher installed please. 11Apr 21, 2009 8:48 pm See how yours line up nicely with the cupboard and kickboard that is a perfect look. But the model I was looking at was about 2cms shorter than by cupboard so I would have had to had a gap at the top if I wanted the bottom of the dishwasher to be in line with the bottom of the cupbord I think Then I wouldnt be able to screw it in. Well.. It may have worked some way or another but I will never ,as I was deliberating so much Dh said just get the free standing one as he thats what he wanted anyway. So I actually listened to him for once and I am now awaiting delivery Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: Show me your dishwasher installed please. 12Apr 22, 2009 7:13 am Hey Kiwi Your d/w sits in very nicely (great point, Taffy).
