Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: Omega Appliances 2Apr 12, 2009 8:12 pm I haven't used them but had investigated pretty intensely and we had chosen to buy Omega appliances in our new place (that was until GG's had a $3600 appliance on sale for just over $2k!!). Most places I've been to have said they are the pick of the 'lower end' appliances. Considering that I've been told the same guys make SMEG, sales guys even go as far as to say items such as the Omega freestanding cooker are 'exactly the same' as the SMEG version on the inside makes me think its a pretty wise choice. ICK So glad the building is over, never again. Loooove our house, but still not quite sure it was worth all of the stress they put us through! Re: Omega Appliances 3Apr 12, 2009 9:18 pm Our house came with Omega products, we opted for the stainless steel stove top (gas) and under bench oven (electric) as well as the slim line range hood. We only had the option of gas or electric unless we wanted to pay for something else. Can say we are happy with them, no problems so far after near 2 years. Re: Omega Appliances 4Apr 12, 2009 9:32 pm We had them as part of the included range back when we built in 2002 and had no troubles with the items at all in those 6 years. This was the Omega cooktop, S/S wall oven and slide away rangehood. They are definately not top end products or anything like that. I'd would say good entry range. But havent heard much of them so good to hear a positive review. We're currently looking at a 900mm oven and cooktop.. I really like the Andi 900mm oven, but hate thier cooktop (dont like the wok burner in the middle as it limits your ability to use burners around it while wokking up a storm).. Thus the omega brand is looking like a better option for us.. (Unless I'm feeling wealthy on the day in which case I'll look at Bosch.. One thing to be careful of is the inside useable space. They vary so much from oven to oven. For example the Bosch only has an 81 litre cavity oven, while say the Omega has a 108 litre net oven space. Both models are 900mm freestanding. Just thought I would let you know. |
