Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 06, 2009 3:52 pm I would like to have a powerpoint on my island bench, but I didnt say anything about this before the slab was poured (not that I knew to mention it). Is there anyway of doing it now? My thoughts were cutting the slab and putting in a conduit - builder said no Or putting it in a conduit and doing floorboard on battens and having it between the battens, but I dont know if this is legal or feasible - does anyone know? Or think of something else? Re: power to island bench - can I do it, or am I too late 2Apr 06, 2009 4:22 pm if the deisgn calls for a raised floor with battens i don't see a problem with this.. Re: power to island bench - can I do it, or am I too late 5Apr 06, 2009 8:48 pm We have a power point on the side of our Island bench. The conduit runs from under the sink area where the point is for the dishwasher behind a cupboard and a set of drawers. The conduit is in a hose, does that makes it waterproof? We've always had power points under the sink for dishwashers, in-sink-erators (sp?) etc and never had a problem. I don't want a powerpoint in the middle of my lovely stone waterfall sides!!! Ours was done after the slab, they just dug out a trench and the conduit containing the power cord sits in it underneath our flooring. We had to put an upstand on it....like a T shape ledge to put the powerpoints in. Otherwise we had no other way. Maybe ask your builder if you can do this? We are with homebuyer and they let us.
