Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 02, 2009 4:09 pm I notice everyone somehow posts pics of their floor plans etc and I was wondering how this is done? Is there some sort of software or something The reason I ask: I want to be able to draw up my kitchen plan and e-mail it out to a number of kitchen makers as a PDF or whatever so they can do a rough quote without me having to be at home for hours on end being bored to death and/or getting the hard sell. I think they'd also appreciate the time saved by doing this (time is money afterall). So what the heck am I not getting? How does everyone do this TIA Re: How can I do this? 2Apr 02, 2009 5:48 pm Kelly, when I was sourcing quotes for my kitchen, I hand drew my preferred layout on graph paper (incl very rough measurements, pointing out where I wanted drawers, cupboards, sink, oven, stove etc) and then scanned them in and emailed them ...it wasn't an overhead drawing but a drawing of each 'wall'. Was enough to get quotes from quite a few places! Good luck Re: How can I do this? 3Apr 02, 2009 6:13 pm havingfun Kelly, when I was sourcing quotes for my kitchen, I hand drew my preferred layout on graph paper (incl very rough measurements, pointing out where I wanted drawers, cupboards, sink, oven, stove etc) and then scanned them in and emailed them ...it wasn't an overhead drawing but a drawing of each 'wall'. I have already drawn a 3D front view of the kitchen from the plan that was put together for me from my first quote (they took it with them so I couldn't steal it...which I would have and am going to! ). I suppose a ******* measurment here and there wont make too much diff, at least it will give them some idea of what I want. Let the quoting begin Re: How can I do this? 4Apr 03, 2009 9:38 am I used Kitchen Draw which you can get off the web somewhere ; http://www.kitchendraw.com/ i think you get 30 hours free which was enough for me, otherwise you can find the older versions with no limit on certain other sites Re: How can I do this? 5Apr 03, 2009 11:27 am Perhaps draw something up simply as hf said and narrow it down to a few companies. I would get at least a few cabinet makers around so that they can point out things you may not have noticed and give suggestions on what will work/wont work with the space etc And by talking to companies you also get an idea about why they may cost more/less based on what materials they use etc Include things such as measurements, where you want draws (and the type e.g. pot draws, vutlery draws), whether you want laminate, vynil, solid timber etc, overhead cabinets, where you think you want your oven/hotplate/dishwasher etc, what type of benchtop; stone?
