Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 26, 2009 10:07 pm Does anyone have any pics of a canopy range hood coming out of a bulk head? Odd question I know. I just think that the bare ceiling above my freestanding oven/stove will look a bit bland with the rangehood sticking out, so I've organised for the builder to put a bulk head in. It will run across the bench/oven/bench/fridge space. I can't find a picture of one though - surely it's been done before. Any ideas?????? Re: Rangehoods and bulkheads 4Mar 27, 2009 11:47 am Sorry to hijack, but Zonk could you please tell me the length of your bulkhead? Your kitchen looks great! We are trying to make decisions about our bulkhead (we have 3m ceilings) and are finding it difficult. Thanks Re: Rangehoods and bulkheads 5Mar 27, 2009 12:26 pm Thanks Joles - if you say it looked good, then I'm sure it must have! Jo - that's almost what I'm thinking - thanks, though I wont have cupboards with only 30cm on each side of the oven the overhead cupboards might look a bit odd. Also, my fridge will be under the same bulk head as there wont be enough room to divide it off. My rangehood will be very similar to yours, just with flat glass rather than curved. Can't wait to see it in. Its so hard to make these decisions without knowing what it will look like. Re: Rangehoods and bulkheads 6Mar 28, 2009 2:07 pm hi jellylegs...just wondering how much coral charged to upgrade the rangehood? or are you buying the appliances yourself...i can't remember sorry 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Rangehoods and bulkheads 7Mar 28, 2009 3:02 pm Building with Coral 2009 hi jellylegs...just wondering how much coral charged to upgrade the rangehood? or are you buying the appliances yourself...i can't remember sorry Hi Not sure if this is the info you're after but we are in TL2 stage with Coral and just received the following quotes. We got the Deluxe upgrade to a Stainless Steel Canopy 600mm and upgraded that further to a BRCPB90X Gemini Rangehood (without plasterboard Rangehood Housing), ducted outside for $500. I have no idea what is going to look like, just wanted a 900 mm Rangehood over the 900 mm BCG95XC Gas Cooker, upgrade from the 600 mm Electric Cooker for $252. The Gas Connection to the Cooker will cost about $270 after we deleted the Heat Pump. Before that we were quoted $910 for the same connection. Furthermore I upgraded the Electrical Oven to BSO62X for $160. cheers Annelies Re: Rangehoods and bulkheads 8Mar 28, 2009 3:10 pm Ours comes from a bulkhead, too (perhaps where you've seen it, Jo??? ) but it's not as deep (doesn't come down as much) as zonk's. I have no clue how to post photos, though, sorry! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Rangehoods and bulkheads 9Mar 28, 2009 6:08 pm Ours will have a bulkhead as well. And the rangehood will come from there. Zonk, quick question, Is your glass splashback 1 whole sheet of glass going up to the rangehood? Or is there a cut somewhere? \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ Re: Rangehoods and bulkheads 10Mar 29, 2009 9:17 pm Quote: hi jellylegs...just wondering how much coral charged to upgrade the rangehood? or are you buying the appliances yourself...i can't remember sorry Hi Jess, We deleted the oven and rangehood supplied by Coral and bought our own. I cook quite a bit and really didn't want a 600mm oven and there was NO WAY I was going to live another year with an electric cooktop if I could avoid it. I've got pictures of what I chose on my blog, but I have NO idea of the quality. Hopefully they'll work ok! The electrician will be installing the rangehood for me and quoted me $50 to do it! Pretty happy with that. Thanks for all the advice everyone. I've got some pics of the 'bones' that have been put in, so I'll post those so you know what I'm talking about! Now that the framework has been put in I'm feeling more confident with that decision. Cheers. Re: Rangehoods and bulkheads 12Mar 29, 2009 9:46 pm Here is one coming out of nothing. We are actually having ours looking like it comes out of the ceiling (unless our builder gets his finger out and approves our request for a bulkhead ) I too am not having any overhead cabinets and think that it looks so streamlined and uncluttered.parkins-kitchen-011.jpg Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Rangehoods and bulkheads 13Mar 29, 2009 10:11 pm Hmmm....thanks Kyton, I think that pic confirms why I thought the bulk head would look good. Maybe its the high ceilings in that kitchen that make it look...interesting. Nice kitchen though. Here's my bones - the bulk head is the rectangle thingie on the top right hand side of the picture. We only have normal height ceilings, so I hope it still works. The joins are not very noticable, because the installer used a dark colored silicone and the joins are situated behind the rangehood good luck with your kitchen jellylegs!
