Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 16, 2007 9:10 pm We ideally want to go for a wall oven with separate grill in our new build and we have to pay extra for this as the standard inclusion is a 900mm freestanding stove. We were wondering if we should just get a credit back and go and purchase our own appliances as our project builder uses Technika appliances and I don't know anything about them and haven't seen them on display in any kitchen places. Can anyone tell me if they are any good or not?
Thanks Sue Re: Anyone got Technika kitchen appliances? 2Mar 17, 2007 9:55 am Hi Sue,
We are building with Metricon and they use Technika. You have the option to upgrade to Smeg but I have been told that there is little difference in quality - you're paying for the name, so we won't be upgrading. I found that Retravision had Technika products on display (it may not be the exact models, I'm not sure) and we were able to have a chat with the sales guy about "brands" and which was best. He seemed to think that Technika is a good brand. In saying that, I've never had a Technika, Smeg or in fact ANY Stainless Steel appliance before so it will be interesting to see what they are like with fingerprints and marks... esp with a 2 year old - although she knows the oven is a "no-no". The sales guy in RV did say that there is 2 types - straight SS and SS with an iridium coating (like a matt finish) which is the type that don't show fingerprints. Most SS fridges are now the iridium type. We were also considering a wall oven (with little fingers in the house) but they were going to charge $1200 to go from an upright gas/electric all in one (90cm) to a gas cooktop (90cm) and electric oven (only 60cm)... In my mind it should be CHEAPER! The oven is smaller! We have decided against the upgrade because we just don't think it's worth it, and it will take bench space out of the kitchen where the oven tower goes. If anyone HAS a Technika oven/stove/dishwasher please let me know what they're like! Ray. Second Time 'Round Re: Anyone got Technika kitchen appliances? 3Mar 17, 2007 10:22 pm I also plan to build with metricon and decided to check the appliances out at 3 major kitchen appliance outlets. All the places mentioned that this brnd is bottom range 'european' or made elsewhere and labelled so.Its the
'builder's range".I was particularly after a ceramic cooktoop (easy to clean as opposed to SS). Also figured out that for 1200 one can get a pretty good brand dishwasher from these retailers..I know of other builders crediting the appliance amount. Our consultant is pushing us to take the smeg range but I am not quite keen. Any opinions? vp Re: Anyone got Technika kitchen appliances? 4Mar 18, 2007 3:52 pm all thye european stoves come in a project range ,this means that it may have a good quality name but it only comes with basic functions ,not the high end product that the name implies ,compare the features of the project models against the known specifications of a high end model of the same brand to reach your conclusion If so what were the "special circumstances" under which it was granted? "Note: If the development consent is for 'dual occupancy' an owner-builder permit can only be… 0 14075 No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 6636 2 4686 |
