Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 18, 2009 9:07 pm I think we want a freestanding oven 900 wide and are willing to pay up to $3,000 but have no idea what to choose, can you help please?
Also if you get a 900 oven is a 900 canopy rangehood big enough? Went to look at ovens last weekend but with 3 little kids running around the showroom well it was very difficult to listen to the oven man. He was showing us the $8,000 Ascots etc and I thought jeepers there must be a cheaper oven that does just a good job and cooks evenly. I run a little cake business so i need a good oven but $3,000 is my limit. Help! I'm in Melbourne. Re: How did you choose an oven? 2Mar 18, 2009 9:15 pm We got a Blanco 90cm Freestanding BFS95F as part of our promotion with PD. It retails for $3600 http://www.blanco-australia.com/Product ... =106&id=13

Now that we are in I LOVE it! It cooks and bakes beautifully and I can easily fit four trays/dishes. We have a 90cm wide slide out range hood and again it works great. Good luck Re: How did you choose an oven? 3Mar 18, 2009 9:57 pm I can't help, as we just went with the one that came with the house. It was too expensive to upgrade (builder's cut and all). I decided we'd just replace it with something better if I hated it or if it died. Re: How did you choose an oven? 4Mar 19, 2009 8:12 am If you get a 900mm range then you definitely need at least a 900mm rangehood.
I personally wanted as big a cooker as I could get for my money (tight-@rse!!) - fell in love with a Stove brand but at $9k it was way too dear. Luckily for me I managed to snaffle a 1100mm Falcon cooker at a closing down auction. It is one of the main things I am massively excited to see finally installed in our new home. Mine is all stainless not black like the photo. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Some things are worth waiting for. Re: How did you choose an oven? 5Mar 19, 2009 9:15 am I was coming on to ask pretty much the same question. DH and I were in showrooms last weekend and liked the look of the OMEGA freestanding 900mm shown here: http://www.omegaappliances.com.au/Produ ... 901XA.aspx - we would be installing a 900mm canopy to match.
Does anyone have any experience with OMEGA appliances? Good / Bad ? TIA. Cheers, Tash Re: How did you choose an oven? 6Mar 19, 2009 5:20 pm There's a Blanco 900mm one on sale at the Goodguys til April 5th.. if you look on the goodguys website they have a whole lot of ovens listed - a lot to search through and no reviews though......but will give you an idea of prices
I would also be interested in hearing from people who love their ovens as we are researching which oven to get at the moment as well (needs to be underbench) Re: How did you choose an oven? 7Mar 19, 2009 5:25 pm That Omega one misstash mentioned is also on sale for $1995 at the GoodGuys.. sorry don't know anything about the brand but it looks good!
Harvey Norman also have prices on their website but looks like they only have a limited range.. Re: How did you choose an oven? 8Mar 19, 2009 5:30 pm We went with a Miele 900mm, because we like the look of the Miele products , reputation, and a friend has the exact same oven and absolutely raved about it.
Now that I have it, I LOVE it!!!!!!!!! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: How did you choose an oven? 9Mar 19, 2009 6:56 pm i went for a 600mm wall oven it is fully programable and was marked down by $600.
After I had bought it DH saw the 900 free standing ones and said these are nice! I could have kicked him as I wanted one but didnt suggest it as all he asked for when building this house was a wall oven so he didnt have to bend down to get food! It doesnt matter though as I have always wanted a built in microwave in a trim kit and I got one of those Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: How did you choose an oven? 10Mar 20, 2009 4:33 pm Not many brands make 90cm freestanding cooker, mainly italian brands make them. Ilve is probably one of the better italian made cookers in Australia, otherwise Bosch also make one that costs about $3500, pretty reasonable price for a german one.

Re: How did you choose an oven? 14Mar 25, 2009 7:57 pm Thanks for the suggestions and pics, so helpful. Well i finally got around to see some ovens today kiddie free It's so hard to find a freestanding 900mm Bosch, so many shops don't have them on display. The Bosch seemed fine althought the salesman was banging on about how you can't remove the glass to clean the oven and was pushing the Delongi on me which i know nothing about. I went to another store and quite liked the Ariston 900mm which was also $500 cheaper than the Bosch and they have a deal on with $400 worth of saucepans and an el chepo rangehood thrown in. Anyone heard anything about the Ariston 900mm freestanding cooker? Have to choose our appliances within 2 weeks so the pressure is on! Hi Chippy, no there isn't, gave it a really good look through and literally opened everything and checked all edges as well. Hence the question, just hoping someone would… 2 2170 My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven.
