Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 15, 2009 10:28 am What's the best grout color for Gray (almost like concrete) colored porcelain tiles? We are thinking of White or Silver Grey. Would this look good? Builder said that white grout is extremely hard to maintain as all the dirt is visible that's why we are thinking of Silver Grey as this is a bit greyish-white.
Also what's the best grout width? Builder recommends 3mm. We are thinking 2mm. Is this ok. BTW, tile size is 300 x 600 ta! \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ Re: Porcelain Tile Grout color 3Mar 15, 2009 9:10 pm If you're after a silver/grey grout, then I suggest that you use a dark grey colour. It will be lighter in colour afterwards.
Our tiler showed me a sample of the dark grey grout and after a few minutes (when it dried up), the colour looked like concrete (ligh grey). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Porcelain Tile Grout color 4Mar 16, 2009 9:12 am We have tiles that sound exactly like what you're having, both in 300 x 600 and 600 x 600, polished and unpolished porcelain. Our grout colour is sort of the silver-grey colour you described. I personally wouldn't want it any lighter, but that's just b/c I didn't want the grout to stand out. If you want a contrast, then maybe a lighter colour is what you want, otherwise I'd stick to a grey coloured one.
Beautiful tiles, I love them....easy to keep clean, too! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Porcelain Tile Grout color 5Mar 16, 2009 12:50 pm We actually ended up with Espresso for the grout color. So its matches the color of the tiles. Then we'll be having Superfine White on the feature tiles on the vanity.
Hope it would look nice, fingers crossed. I'll try to post a pic once its done. If you have pics of your floor tiles I would love to see them... ta! \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ Re: Porcelain Tile Grout color 6Mar 16, 2009 1:35 pm Sounds great! I'm sure it will look fantastic What are your tiles called?
I am hopeless with computers - I can't post photos on here!!! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Porcelain Tile Grout color 7Mar 29, 2009 9:36 am Hi Petal. The tiles are called Mina Cementi. I'll post a photo soon. \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ Re: Porcelain Tile Grout color 8Mar 29, 2009 10:00 am I have had all my tiles matched with the closest possible colour grout as I didn't want to make a feature of the grout. Your tiler should have a selection book of grout colours (actual grout pieces) White (which I have had for the past 12 years) is a nightmare and definitely does not look white anymore. Re: Porcelain Tile Grout color 9Mar 29, 2009 10:28 am we opted for a grout colour called 'gunmetal grey' it's a very dark grey colour. Re: Porcelain Tile Grout color 10Mar 29, 2009 6:59 pm The Espresso grout and the Mina Cementi Tiles match perfectly. They are both on the brownish-grey color. I might be able to take some pics tom. Yep, I saw some houses with white grout and they are definitely not white anymore. But I guess if your tiles are white, white grout is the best match. \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ Re: Porcelain Tile Grout color 11Mar 29, 2009 7:12 pm dembi_2000 The Espresso grout and the Mina Cementi Tiles match perfectly. But I guess if your tiles are white, white grout is the best match. I paid a visit to my house this arvo, just for a change, and the grout I chose for the main living area, which was pretty well exactly like the tile, has lightened significantly and almost is off white....it looks spectacular but I would probably have gone a bit darker if I had known it would lighten that much Thanks splashers, that makes sense. The waterproofing guy used this Davco product, I will raise the issue with builder and hopefully get resolved with him - if not… 2 12897 Hi everyone, Have just put a shower in the laundry and after only using it 2-3 times have noticed staining on the grout.
