I am new to this. Is there possible to replace tile splashback with glass splashback without removing the kitchen benchtop? And what sort of handyman I should contact to do the job. I am planning to do the following for my kitchen: Change the existing cabinet door and add few wall cabinet Remove kitchen tile and replace it with floating floorboard Replace the tile splashback with glass splashback. Do you think this is feasible I have granite kitchen benchtop. And what sort of handyman I should contact to do the job? Re: Replace tile splashback with glass splashback 2Mar 07, 2007 8:04 pm It's not too hard to remove benchtops in most cases...would make the splashback fitting much easier. But in the event that you can't do that, I'd be looking at removing the tiles above the bench first and then once you know what is behind them, decide on whether you can fix the glass straight to whatever is underneath. If the tiling has been done properly and there is glue etc attached to cement sheet, it will be far easier to replace the cement sheet with new stuff and then get the splashback fitted by the experts. I'm currently renovating my bathroom and putting up two splashbacks in the shower. New cement sheet isn't expensive, is easy to install, and is the preferred base for a glass splashback. Good luck with it. If all you can see are obstacles, you have lost sight of the goals Re: Replace tile splashback with glass splashback 3Mar 07, 2007 10:01 pm Glass splashbacks are put on after the benchtop is in place. (You will find you wont be able to remove your granite top anyway as it will be stuck hard to your floor cabinets)
Cover your granite top with something that will protect it from falling tiles and get a bolster and hammer and get stuck into it. Dont forget to wear goggles as tiles chip and fly everywhere. Just be careful with gyprock walls as you may hack into it too much. Have fun. Re: Replace tile splashback with glass splashback 4Mar 08, 2007 9:13 pm Thanks all for your kind replies.
Do I need to put kitchen cupboard first before I install the floorboard. Actually i havent decided whether I want to go with floating floorboard or real timber. ok thanks - yes was wondering if that should have been listed as Option Three! 2 7731 Your house roof does not show rusting other than some surface rust on the flashings. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust… 1 10181 |
