Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 04, 2009 10:11 pm We are in the throes of choosing and organising our new kitchen due to be installed mid-late April. Like anyone we are trying to save a dollar here and there and I thought it might be worthwhile looking to purchase items like dishwasher, oven, rangehood, and the sink from Grays online.
Has anyone attended these auctions or bid online? How did you go? Is it intimidating? I am guessing you need to do your homework first and know exactly what brand and model you want and what a good price is. Any tips on how to bid, what to do & not to do? I am in Melbourne btw. Thanks for any assistance. Re: Anyone bought appliances from Grays Online Auctions? 2Mar 04, 2009 10:17 pm Have bought a few items from there ... wouldn't buy dishwashers etc though.
There are far too many 'factory outlets' etc in Melbourne to buy these sight unseen. The next feww months will see some real bargains around I think. Re: Anyone bought appliances from Grays Online Auctions? 3Mar 04, 2009 10:20 pm I agree with Matt. Grays is good, but some stuff is tatty and over priced. Do a deal locally... Its Grey's tax and it often makes good deals just standard deals. Re: Anyone bought appliances from Grays Online Auctions? 7Mar 05, 2009 8:21 am We have and saved a bucket load. However ours was a Grays Liquidation / Closure of business sale so we actually went and inspected the items first. Then we did our homework and researched what the retail prices were. Only then did we bid what we wanted to pay as a maximum.
We have bought enough stuff from them to name our house "The House that Grays Built" Some things are worth waiting for. This is probably the best way I know of to save heaps of $$$ Annie Sometimes it is but I wouldn't be buying electrical from eBay unless the person was offering a warranty / guarantee of some kind. All our items from Grays still have manufacturers warranty on them and if it is damaged prior to delivery with Grays or is not what was described then you get your money back. Not always guaranteed that with an eBay purchase. Some things are worth waiting for. But yes, it has to be price relative if you want new with warranty. Annie A thankful person is a happy person. They have some good stuff and lots of it. I suppose their stock changes by the day. It only cost $2 to go and have a browse, the $2 is for the auction list. I love going there! Sometimes I have seen people bid and push the price up of items that are no way worth what they ended up paying. I have gotten frameless glass showers for a crazy low price, dishwasher, rangehood, tiles, merbau screens, taps, mixers and accessories from there. Brilliant. Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 24828 As title suggests, looking at using the interlocking Pentablock stacked stone products to replace failing timber retaining… 0 17870 I am building in claymore NSW and this is shown in the building envelope plan. … 0 10035 |
