Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 02, 2009 8:38 pm Well, in the process of weighing up some kitchen ideas and quotes and one place the g/f got a quote from was Romos Kitchen place in Rutherford NSW...
Has anyone used them, heard about them, got a mate who used them? Any pointers would be great Re: Romos Kitchens, anyone heard any good/bad 2Mar 03, 2009 2:00 pm Have you been to their showroom? I suggest before you make any judgements go and look yourself. I went there as a curiousity the other week. My sister did purchase her cabinets from him however did not get the doors from him - used another cabinet maker for those.
Personally I would try other places first - we had an excellent experience with SRD Kitchens at Gateshead and are using Valley Kitchens for this new home. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Romos Kitchens, anyone heard any good/bad 3Mar 03, 2009 5:29 pm We did visit them and got a quote on the plan we have pretty much narrowed it down to...
It looked ok but im no expert in kitchen cabinets We have also been to SRD but the price difference for a similar plan is quite significant and SRD was with vinyl wrapped doors which ive since been put off, so can imagine that painted doors would increase this price gap more so... However if there is a significant quality difference(i didnt see one) then it may be justifiable. When you visited them, what did you make of the quality of their cabinets? How have your sisters been? and why did she get the doors elsewhere? Romo's Kitchens. 4Mar 20, 2009 9:26 am My mother and sister have both bought kitchens from them. The product is great, 2 pac poly doors sure beats the vinyl/ laminate stuff. I have done alot of shopping round myself and have found that there product is quite good at a very reasonable price. Good value for money. Re: Romos Kitchens, anyone heard any good/bad 5Apr 21, 2012 6:51 pm My son got a kitchen from Romos. It was cheap and the cupboards were quite good but I would never go through the experience again! Romo drew the kitchen design as a rough sketch. We expected a more detailed computer generated one would follow. No, that was it. We were handed lots of boxes and that drawing. We assembled the kitchen with no problems but found that there were end panels missing from the design. These panels were needed to finish the kickboard onto. I asked about the panels and the reply was "That's what you ordered". I asked how I was supposed to finish the kickboard, he said "however you like." I asked how to fit the kickboards as the clips that were supplied needed to fit into a groove on the kickboard and the groove wasn't there. Romo's answer: "We throw those away, just drill a hole in the bottom of the cupboards and screw into to edge of the chipboard", an ugly and rough solution. There were other problems with the doors. the holes bored for the hinges were too shallow on some of the doors making them kick out. Some of the handle holes were not drilled (not a great problem). The Benchtops! The wrong benchtops arrived. Their solution was to get the correct granite and get a local stone mason to cut it to size. It took 3 weeks with promises of delivery broken so many times. I lost count of the phonecalls. When the benchtops were finally delivered they were the wrong size! Too long as well as a variance of 2mm in thickness. I rang Romo and tried to explain what had happened. I was called everything under the sun. I could not repeat it here. He is a foul mouthed bully. I tried to explain the problem again and he hung up on me. I called him back and he told me he "could not care less about me" and that it was up to me to contact the stonemason if I wanted it fixed and it was my fault becase I was installing it myself (they advertise that they cater for DiY). I told him that whether it was installed by me or someone else it would still be the wrong size, he hung up on me again. I am not a professional cabinet maker but I have installed about 6 kitchens before and been involved in the building trade for many years. My advice would be to go anywhere else. If you want a budget kitchen and no service, go to bunnings. At least their kitchens are well designed and they don't swear at you when you ask questions. You might be able to apply to divert the sewer at your expense. In NSW you would contact a Water services co-ordinator and they would give you advice as to whether or not… 1 12947 do not pay until you are satisfied with workmanship windows require flashing over the head archithrave and up under weatherboards 3 25312 Building Standards; Getting It Right!
