It will most prop blend in better with the rest of you benchtops being able to see a bit more of the benchtop colour . Thats just my opinion though Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: Help with kitchen ideas please 4Mar 02, 2009 6:50 pm I like the appliance cupboard under but the last one would give you a bit of extra prep space if you need it - depends what other work surface you've got. Either would look good I think and no-one would ever know it was a last minute decision! Re: Help with kitchen ideas please 6Mar 02, 2009 7:37 pm mrsrusty Hi I would vote for the last option, so you have the bench for when you take something out of the microwave, need to give it a stir or whatever and can put it back. Good luck. My thoughts exactly! I always need to stir the pasta or rice Looks better to me. Happy at Home Re: Help with kitchen ideas please 7Mar 02, 2009 7:37 pm Thanks everyone.
You are confirming what i thought, which is great.. I was really concerned that the different shaped cupboards might look odd together, or 'last minute decision'.. i know it is, but i dont want it to look like it is lol -sha Re: Help with kitchen ideas please 8Mar 02, 2009 8:49 pm My vote would be for your 'favourite' too. I feel with appliance cupboards, the shutter is more often up than down. The last option has a cleaner line, IMO.
Good luck with your decision. Re: Help with kitchen ideas please 9Mar 02, 2009 9:16 pm Sha - thankyou so much for having this dilema. We couldn't work out where we where going to put the microwave.
I've just shown your options to my husband and he is busy putting in a corner cupboard near the kitchen window in Google Sketchup. We have the stove top there, so the third and final option is best for us as it won't interupt with the pan handles. Re: Help with kitchen ideas please 10Mar 02, 2009 9:21 pm I like the bottom also….it gives you more bench space….which is important while handling hot dishes. I am glad to have helped I am certain now we will go with the last option.. I just hope they come back with a reasonable price. Our friend is a plasterer, so he will help us to install, and do the bulkhead etc after handover.. (much cheaper) Good luck with your kitchen. Please show us pics -Sha Re: Help with kitchen ideas please 13Mar 02, 2009 9:40 pm Have you measured your microwave lately?
After he drew the corner cupboard in he then got the measurements of the space and our microwave won't fit. We are basing this on most upper cupboards being 30cm deep, as that is what they are here in our rental. It was such a good idea to, and looked really good in the kitchen sketchup. Back to the drawing board. (he is now putting in the wine rack, he thinks that is more important to find a place for) Re: Help with kitchen ideas please 14Mar 02, 2009 9:44 pm 450mm deep minimum including venting chimney for a microwave enclosure...have been a few discussions about that here recently.
Basically the microwave sits in an enclosure of boards 450mm deep and has a normal 320mm deep cupboard suspended above it - providing the vent behind it. Cheers, Earl Re: Help with kitchen ideas please 16Mar 03, 2009 12:24 am These were drawn up by the company that supplied our kitchen cabinets.
I will send our measurements to them tomorrow to make sure the microwave will fit. Our microwave dimensions are 483 (W) x 281 (H) x 388 (D). -Sha I was being kind to the builder.
